National University SD Cohort 52

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start a thread for National University students who are applying for the SD cohort 52 that begins in October 2017. I'm very excited about the future and wanted to share this experience with others that have applied as well. Please feel free to post questions, concerns, and accomplishments.

Has anyone received an e-mail for the TEAS 6 test date?

I was looking for a facebook page earlier and didn't find one. I think it would be great if you could start one. The email I received on Friday stated we would be getting another email July 3rd. Did anyone receive anything?

what was your breakdown of your points if you don't mind sharing, I am curious because I just applied 'to cohort 53!

The Facebook group is called National University Cohort 52.

I talked with Erica yesterday and she said due to the holiday they will go out on Wednesday.

I don't mind sharing. Here's the break down.

My GPA: 3.94 = 39.4 points.

(3.94 x 4 / 40% = .394 x 100 = 39.4)

My TEAS: 78.7 = 31.48 points.

(78.7 x 40% = 31.48)

My Essay: 5 = 20 points.

(5 / 5 = 1 x 20% = .2 x 100 = 20)

My total points: 90.88

Wow that is a high overall total! How did you prepare for the essay? I have heard that people usually range 3.5-4/5...

I prepared by really thinking about why I wanted to be a nurse. Then I chose what my best personal quality traits were and wrote about them with examples. It has to be a complete 5 paragraph essay so I wrote a "mock" essay prior and timed myself. You will need to be cautious about your time. I used up the entire hour.

Anybody received and alternate status??

Hi, I'm Jim, I took the TEAS exam on May 17th 2017 at the Rancho Bernardo Campus scoring a 92 and my GPA was 3.92. The proctored essay, I have no idea what I scored but it must have been well enough. I was accepted into Cohort 52 as an Alternate but deferred to Cohort 53. I'm glad to have opened up a spot for somebody!

You are probably in! You can breathe easy now.

Hi Jim. If you were accepted as an alternate from cohort 52, you are automatically guaranteed acceptance for cohort 53. Therefore there was no deferral needed, unless you were actually accepted into cohort 52 (not as a alternate, but an actual acceptance) and decided to wait. If that is the case, just curious as to why you would defer?

Really great scores by the way. Congratulations!

As an alternate there was a spot available for me in Cohort 52 that opened up. I chose to defer because I had already planned on being automatically accepted into Cohort 53 and I didn't want to jeopardize my current employment so I chose to just go with Cohort 53. I also was going to be taking a long Thanksgiving vacation across the country and didn't want to have the pressure of the program interfering with my family gathering! Thanks!
