Anyone else out there going to apply to cohort 40?

I'm also very frustrated with ALL of the changes that are happening and nobody seems to have a clue! :arghh:

Hi friends, I also applied to SD cohort 40, so I am in the same boat as most of you with not knowing if we have to take more classes. I talked to my adviser today and she informed me that they are moving the application closing date up again to may 30. I asked her a lot of questions that she was not able to answer because she said that they were not being upfront with admissions. So we are basically in limbo. However, she did sign me up for another nursing forum on May 1st in RB. Even though I have already attended a nursing forum, she said that they might be able to better answer my questions. If we end up having to take more classes, we may be able to double up on classes. I wish you all good luck! and I hope we get some answers soon! If they say anything new at the nursing forum about cohort 40, I will let you guys know. :)

I wonder why they keep pushing out the deadline. Not enough applicants??

Wow I just saw that they pushed it a whole month back...I think I am going to attend the nursing forum on the 1st. That might answer more of our questions.

Well if you find anything out let us know! (:

Are you nervous at all for the essay test?

So I went to the nursing forum today, and it looks like we do have to take additional classes. Some of the classes that we have taken may count for credit for some of the new classes required. I am not sure which classes they are exactly, but the man that led the forum (the same man that led the other forum I went to, so you might know him or have his email) told me to email him directly. I don't think that we can say names on here, but you can also try to email the nursing department directly, that email is on NU's website. When he gets back to me I will let you guys know which requirements I still need.

Some other notes that I took were that the essay portion is worth 20%, the TEAS is worth 40%, and the GPA is worth 40% (they took away the attempts to pass core prerequisites portion). The essay is 1 1/2 to 2 pages long. RB's pass rate for the NCLEX is 97% (thought that was awesome). And we should be invited to take the TEAS and essay shortly after May 30th. They give us a list of dates and we get to choose. The tests will probably be in the middle to end of June.

Hope all of my notes were correct, and I hope this helps you guys a little. I also heard someone else talking about a Q&A forum at NU, I might look into it.

Thank you Channieo for the heads up. That was very helpful

The classes that I still have to take are:

- CHE 101

- CHE 101a

- COH 317

- Any Area B approved Math class (see p. 76)

- ENG 240

- SPN 340a

- SPN 341

- SOC/HUB 500

The first 5 are priority, and the last 3 I need for the degree. I will have to double up somewhere. Your advisers can help you petition to double up on classes, but it takes a few weeks. Of course the requirements may be different for you guys depending on what you have or haven't taken. I hope everyone gets their classes figures out :)

ocean18 glad I can be of some help :) it's so confusing right now

So for the evaluation process, does this apply to cohort 40? 40% teas, 40% gpa, 20% essay?

I can't say for sure, I was assuming yes, but don't take my word on that because it seems like we are in a gray area.
