National University in San Diego

Anyone going there? I got accepted to their BSN program to start in July 07 but have req to start in Oct instead. Pros cons with the school? Any advice for me? tia

When did you put in your application? When did you find out? I submitted my application in Oct 06 and wondering what is going on? Have not heard anything from them at all yet. This has made me wonder whether i want to go to this school at all even if i am accepted. I have also heard that their nursing students are not as knowledgeable as students going through less accelerated programs such as through the communtiy colleges.

I think I put my application in about July 06, I got an email in Aug that said I would get a letter w/approval/disapproval by Oct 06, nope didn't find out till Late Jan Early Feb, I know it was after spring semester started because I need to take sociology and speech before I can start the nursing core and it was too late to take it in spring.

I had to email Jessica alot!!!! She is the secretary I believe. I have heard they have a huge influx of nursing applications. You know grossmont lost its accrediation right? I have a friend who said when she graduated and got on her floor she felt lost.

National was my last hope in San Diego, my dh is still Navy and on a 3 yr tour of shore duty. My last year of nursing school I will be alone w/the 4 kids, scary thought, he will be back on sea duty and we dont even know if he will get orders here!!!

Good luck!!! Call them or email them! sometimes email works best.

im glad to see that there are national univ. students on this forum. i am national univ. student, as well, and i am currently enrolled in ILR. after this class, i have all the required classes needed to apply (micro, a&p1. a&p2, english, sociology, psych, and speech.) but i still have my accuplacer to take and my essay to work on. my question is, on the application, there is a section for "health assessment." is that a health assessment class you need to take? or is it a section for a physical?

here is a link to the application. take a look...

You don't need to do anything for that. A good person to call is Joel Sedeno. He is in charge of the nursing applications and will walk you through everything you need to do to apply. Just be aware that they say it is a 3 month decision period but that is not true. I applied back in Oct 06 and have still yet to hear from them. I have tried calling and emailing so many times to find out what is going on and they either never return my phone call or reply to my emails. I have given up on them. I applied to for the class starting in July but since I have not heard from them, I am just going to apply to SDSU to start in the Spring.

Good luck

oh wow. the wait to find out whether or not youve been accepted is long. i plan to get my essay done and my application ready to go by july. i hope. im also on waiting lists for several of the nursing programs at the community collges. but i really hope to get into nationals nursing program. good luck to everyone!

btw, any tips for me on writing the essay or accuplacer?

thanks!

Oh man hearing the details on the waiting time is not good. I am finishing up my ILR class this month and was looking for good information on the accuplacer and more the essay....Anyone?

Another question of mine is I was wondering if I should wait to apply in Jan. 08, rather Setp.? I just feel rushed and not prepared for the accuplacer test or the essay. I have been staying on top of other classes and grades. Anyone have an opinion on that? I am also gonna apply for an LVN program just so I have two pathways I hope to get on, otherwise I may go back to my home state just to persue my goals/dreams of Nursing.

I would apply sooner than later, find an English major to read over your essay. That is what I did, she helped me make it more positive. I start Oct 1st!!! I am so excited! They took about 7 months to give me the answer. I have email works so much better than the phone! Oh my the scrubs for the school are sooo expensive!!!

Hi thanks for the information, also I would like to brush up on my math, I was told they want people to test into college algb. mmmm, 7mths is a long time to wait!!! 7mths, really, I am still finishing up my pre-reqs with them, and my advisor wants me to apply in Sept. but I am not sure I feel ready to take the accuplacer exam.... That will count for a lot of points in getting in she said. I have all my pre reqs done for the RN (2yr) colleges, but the wait list are daunting... So I am also finishing up my CNA then starting a class today to apply for an LVN program, as well as finishing up my ILR and CNA course. :) and working PT. Even if I apply in Jan, brush up on my math skills, and in 7mths, thats about the same time I would start the LVN program, and then finish that and do LVN-RN or BSN. plus talk about saving so many G's. LOL. mmmmmmm, call me crazy but I want a door open to all possible ways to finish what I want to be a Nurse and help our communities.....:) PS I am very proud of you for getting into NU!!! GO Furture RN!!! any advice from your end on a pathway to nursing would be appreciative

JUST a quick question as well, what are the application periods for the application or deadlines. :)

i just applied, i didn't know they had a time frame, i dont think I did well on the accuplacer but I also had all my prereqs for BSN done through Hawaii Pacific Univ. Well I did have to repeat Microbio because I had a D and it also did not have a lab. I went to Grossmont and had a high B!! Loved my class too. Have you checked into Grossmont Health occupation, they have LVN and so does Southwestern, good luck

Hi, Say that was my plan of action getting the BSN courses outside of the nursing cohort done so when i finally get in somewhere with an LVN-BSN or ADN-BSN...I just have the cohort to finish up. Actually since I am out of state resident until next year, NU was cheaper for me :) so I am finishing up my ILR I had to retake my sociology they didn't transfer mine in...I ve got all the other pre-reqs done from my home state. I am at ROP right now finishing my CNA our last day of clinicals was today! And I am waiting for the Applications to come out for the LVN through Grossmont Occupational Prgrm. :)... Like my professor told me concentrate on one thing for your advancement and there will be no stressing. I know that sounds good but when there are deadlines to meet and not wait another semester for applying to schools one has got to get all the classes done and apply asap. Good Luck with you, and Micro was my FAVORITE COURSE!!!! I was proud the final exams were posted and we got to see the class average which was a 62% boom I got an 82% that was a good semester for me. But it totally depends on the teacher!!!! mine was great as well
