Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

At National, our A&P was combined as well, but there was a part 1 and part 2 class with labs so you definitely need to contact the nursing department!

Hi there jStar!

I tested out of the ILR260 class and I got my results in about 4 weeks! I was very surprised though because they told me it could be anywhere from 4-12 weeks! I think I was lucky though. They told me at the testing site that if they are pretty backed up with tests it could take a while. If I were you, I would get it done ASAP so you can allow for more time to get your results. Good luck to you and Ceemix!!!

I agree with Twilight on this one. Take that test as SOON as you possibly can. I was trying to take it for the November 2009 Application deadline and they told me that they would not even look at my application if my ILR test was being graded still. I ended up having to take the class and signed up the day it started. (Talk about a COMPLETE waste of money!!) That class actually ended the day after the Nov. Application deadline and I had to call the nursing department to see if they would accept my app. or not. I was told that since I was taking the class at National, and they could pull my transcripts themselves within ten days of the class finishing, they would accept my application. I did however have to write a cover-letter explaining the situation when I turned in my app. I was told that if it was any other class such as Statistics, A&P 1 or 2, or Micro that they would NOT accept the application. They are very strict on this rule and when I tried to kinda complain to the lady on the phone that it wasn't fair that they wouldn't accept my app while the ILR test was being graded, she got annoyed with me and a bit rude. :crying2:

My advice for anyone who hasn't gone to a Pre-Nursing forum or isn't sure of the pre-recs necessary is that you should contact the nursing department as opposed to your advisor. My advisor thought it took about a week to grade the IRL test and actually apologized to me when I told her that I had to take ILR because she had given me misinformation. This whole process is so frustrating and I personally feel that the Nursing department at NU doesn't make it any easier really.

Good luck to all of you as you go through this process!!

I'm hoping to find out if I made it into the July 2010 cohort either later this week or sometime next week! The anticipation is killing me though! :lol2:

HI Prettyinpink57,

I was just wondering who your professors were for SPN 340A and SPN 341? I need to take those too and dont want to get a nightmare teacher. Thanks.

Hey Nanann200, I'll PM you the instructors cause the allnurses patrol will delete my post if I put any professor names in here. :)

Hi ALIinSD! I applied to the july cohort as well, and if you don't mind me asking, I was wondering if you could tell me what your stats are? (gpa, teas, etc.) I know we're supposed to be getting our acceptance/denial letters either this week or next and the wait is killing me too!

I applied for July too! Hopefully we find out soon :yeah:

thanks twilight! i just want to say that i was following your posts on this thread and i was soooo happy that you made it in. from the looks of it... your journey was filled with suspense! so congrats! i hope you are enjoying the program. i'm sure i will have many more questions in the future. hopefully the luck from this forum will rub off on me!

i was thinking about testing out of of ilr and if i finally decide i well def. get it done very soon. i've heard the on-site class is pretty easy but i was also really considering signing up for the online class. has anyone taken ilr online?? what did you think of it? is it something that is do-able? im really good with computers and powerpoint. i'm just worried i wont do well on the clep. :uhoh3:

ps: they finally evaluated all my transcripts and my florida classes all transferred!!! i don't have to re-take any science, english, or math classes or additional class once i'm done with ilr and com, but hopefully my previous grades are good enough. :D wow.. after 3 months of waiting! huge relief! now i should be able to apply to the may deadline. yay!

I took ILR online, the class is super easy. I think I had to write only like 1 short paper and do some journals. Of course that was almost 2 years ago now and I'm sure it depends on the teacher, but the class is totally easy and if you've taken college before, I'm sure you can write basic papers and do a little research. I guess it was a little useful only because I learned how to use National's online library which is pretty good.

Hey there,

I don't mind sharing my stats. I scored a 86.5 on the TEAS and I really haven't calculated my GPA. In the pre-recs I got an A in Biomedical Stats, A's in A&P 1 and 2 with labs, and a B- in micro lecture, and an A- in micro lab. I had the worst teacher for Micro and she was gone for the first 2 or so weeks of class. I'm prety sure I did great on the essay too seeing as I am about 2 classes shy of a BA in English! :) Honestly, if I don't get an acceptance letter then I will be calling them ASAP to see what the deal is. I heard that the last cohort had a B average going in, so I'm quite hopeful. What were your stats, if you don't mind me asking?!?

Good luck to you and let us know if you hear anything! I'm practically stalking the mailbox!

I'm going to sign up for the SOC 500 online class that starts in April (my last of the 3 required classes) Does anyone know which of the 2 teachers is better/easier? From other posts, I see that I can't put names, but just wondering if someone could message me with which one would be better or, if they had a good teacher for this class. Thanks!!

Oh, and for the message about taking the ILR class online, I took it in November. Personally, I thought my teacher was waaay too picky for such a lame class. It isn't difficult, just time consuming with all of the message board posts and replies that you have to post. Then there is just busy work like making powerpoints, finding newsfeeds online, and using the NU Library. :p The only thing I learned from that class is how to use our NU Library which will really come in handy. They have a ton of resources I never would have found if I hadn't taken this class. Considering though the price of the class v.s. the $50 to test out, I would totally test out! Ask your advisor for a study guide and then there is actually a quiz on the NU Library website that is directly from the test! Good luck with that decision.

Thank you everyone for the advice regarding the ILR class! I decided that I'm going to test out of it due to lack of funds right now. By the way, if anyone on here is a military dependent/spouse let me know!

I will call to schedule it tomorrow. I am afriad they won't have it graded by the May 14th deadline. I will be SOOO mad! If I take it the 2nd week of March that should give them exactly 8 weeks to grade it. I hope that's enough time!

Thank you twilight!

I actually have another question! I'm at a community college right now and they offer Human Anatomy AND physiology in one class, including lab. Do you know if it counts for NU?

I can relate so I will share my previous situation in hopes that NU will do the same for you; however, I definitely agree with the others to double check class equivalencies so you're not wasting your time. I took A&P I and II, along with Mirco, each with labs combined with the classes at a community college in Florida. NU accepted all three classes along with their labs even though they were combined classes. I was happy to know that each class will count for 4.5 and labs for 1.5. Although, on my degree audit it looks like if you make one grade of a B in that combined class, then you will get two B's -one for class and one for lab. Probably not a good thing if one gets a C because that will show up as two C's.
