Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.
Thanks
Hi! I recently applied to NU and I am hoping to start the BSN program in October of this year. Still no word back yet, as they take 3-5 months to respond.
Anyhow, I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions about the program if you don't mind.
#1 How long is the Nursing/Clinical portion of the program...ie, how long in months until you can take the NCLEX?
#2 How long is the program in total? Are there any vacations? I am trying to plan a week long vacation to Lake Powell during the summer of 2010 and I wondered if there are any days off.
How do you like the program? Any information would really help! Thanks!!

Hello All,
I need to let off a little National University steam and this seems like a good place to do so. First off when i applied in September 2007 my application was automatically sent to NU in San Jose...I live in the San Francisco Bay area so i guess that was the closest one. Anyways they sat on my initial application for 3 months before I even found out about the supplemental Nursing Program Application. I applied to the Accelerated 2nd degree BSN in the beginning of January and am still waiting to hear something. I had a 3.42 Biology degree GPA at a UC and have a 4.0 in my nursing prereqs (anatomy, physio, micro, psych, public speaking etc.) at a community college up here. I am pretty hopeful that I will get in but i'm getting frustrated after waiting for so long. I was hoping to start in October but i feel like the chances of that happening get slimmer day by day. I guess my letter will be here soon...
I am also having a hard time getting people to return my phone calls and there seems to be a lot of red tape at this university. I was wondering what any of you who are already attending feel about the quality of your education at NU and how you would rate your professors and support staff.

LVN step-up = 8 months for NCLEX
Generic Entry ADN/BSN = 16 months for NCLEX
Generic Entry is 22 months total for BSN completion (NSG classes only, not your other BSN reqs)
Hello All!!
I too am hoping to re-enter into the N.U program in October '08. I was in the program late last year, but had to leave due to me finding full-time work. Administrators "suggest" that students not work at all. I "suggest" that they talk to my landlord. :rotfl:
I now work nights at a casino in San Diego. Not attending school is driving me nuts. I haven't heard anything yet, either.
Working full time and attending N.U will be a crazy experience. I have worked and attended nursing school before, but not N.U. It is fast pace and 3 days a week (Oct2008-1 day of lecture (9am-230pm) and 2 days of lab (7am-3pm), that's 8 hours, ya'll). This does change towards the end of the class; for 2-3 weeks you do clinicals. These clinicals are located in San Diego; they include Scripps Memorial, Sharps, and some other hospitals. I will just pray and ask God to guide me; this going to be one heck-of-a ride.:scrm:

I finally applied to the BSN (generic entry) program at NU. I was told that the wait to hear back is much shorter now, just 3-5months.
The ACCUPLACER math was SOO hard! I tested into 12B on my first try, and College lvl English. I utterly failed the College Algebra part, but according to my advisor, as long as you place into 12A or 12B all will be well. He said the accuplacer results take a back seat to cumulative gpa and the personal statement (essay). So...I will post when I hear back as to whether I am admited. See ya in 3-5 months!!
