National University San Diego

Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

My husband works for the state, in the unemployment office, helping people file for unemployment benefits. He wants to become a Physical Therapist, but he already has a bachelors in history, so all he needs is about 7 prereq courses to get into the PT school. Our goal is that once I finish my school and start working full time, then he will quit his job to go to school FT, and i will support us. I also have a bachelors in econ/math from UCSD, so I got into the Accelerated BSN at National. Where does your daughter go to school? Is it expensive? I am looking for a cheaper school for my son, since I won't be working. Right now, we pay $200 per week, and it's going to kill us once I quit my job. My son will also be 3 yrs old in June. :wink2:

well thats great you are in the accelerated program! is it shorter than traditional? i think it is but i always wondered what classes they would cut out, they all seem so necessary! my daughter goes to preschool in serra mesa (not too far from qualcomm stadium if you arent familiar with it) and its $130 a week for full-time. i am really happy with the school, shes been there since sept, and im not sure the price could really get any better. its only $26 a day!

my husband and i were trying to do that too; one in school while the other works and switch. so im not sure if its a good or bad thing that our schooling is occuring at the same time! he is getting ready for paramedic school, only 9 months. on one hand, he will have a great career in just 9 months instead of working 2 jobs, but it will be a crazy 9 months! lol. so ive HEARD, well READ since ive seen it online, that you can receive a tuition waver while in school through the unemployment office or something about a workforce investment act, to help pay for school if you have to quit a job...i guess your husband would be someone to ask! ive been trying to figure out if its true or not lol

Hey you guys I got moved up to April so looks like I will be joining you. :) i can't believe the orientation is February 13th, that's so soon!!

hey! wow they must have had a lot people not ready to start in April or something! i know i am very excited for the orientation and to learn more about what we are getting ourselves into :D

I didn't see anything in the orientation packet about ...wasn't there supposed to be something about that in it?

You know what, I didn't either and I did read it more than once. I was just going to look it up like google it but if someone else knows that would help :D :D :D

Hey guys! My name is Pauline. I will be joining all you April starters as well!! (instead of July) :D This is a very interesting thread and would like to share some info to my future nursing mates about where to find malpractice ins. info. The nursing advisor sent me a couple e-mails, including a schedule list of courses & orientation packet (site, shots, background, uniforms, etc..). The other email is the announcement for the 18th Cohort Orientation summary - organized list of what is required on Feb 13, optional, what needs to be turned in, etc... This was a really helpful list. Here, they listed the websites including - http://www.nso.com/, http://www.hpso.com/, and www.proliability.com / Coverage needed at a Registered Nurse Student level is $ 1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 per aggregate. We need to bring current policy declaration page and one copy. Reading above a couple earlier posts, price is not as bad - around $26 - $30 a year? Hope this will help ~ sorry so lengthy. Congrats to all of you and see you Feb 13th!!

Hi Pauline, thank you SO MUCH for this information! Is there a way to copy/paste that "organized list of what is required for the 13th"? that would help me out so much just to make sure I am on track. I never received that second email. Do you know when our April start date is? Thanks again!

Hi! You're welcome! :D I do not know when exactly in April we start, it lists one month or two months - then April 2009, June/July 2009, together with NSG + course no...etc. Here is that list :D I hope it would paste right :

* Actual current CPR/AED card and copy of front and back of card

* For LVNs and RNs ONLY, actual current LVN or RN license and copy of front and back of license

* Actual Declaration of page and copy (Proof of malpractice insurance)

* Proof of Health insurance coverage. Copy of front and back of insurance card.

* Original National University Immunization and Physical Examination form; signed and completed by your healthcare provider. No copies or reproductions will be accepted.

* Signed HIPPA completion form

* Photo Identification will be required to obtain student ID.

ok so we're supposed to have a physical form also? not just the immunization form? sorry, i'm confused. i never got a physical form... oh man this is so overwhelming!

ok so i just ended up calling the nursing department yesterday and asked a million questions...haha.:D the immunization and physical form is the same paper... and Danni, if you want that email that you never got (which i never did until yesterday when i called) i can forward it to you. you can just send me your email address. i can't believe how cheap is! i took care of that yesterday and got that done for 20 dollars a year! soooo cheap! anyways, is anyone as overwhelmed as i am?? with the late notice it's just pretty stressful. i am SO excited though! (and can't wait to meet all of you!)

Yeah sorry for all the posts but i forgot to tell you guys....i asked and our first day of classes is April 6th!!!!!!:yeah:
