National University San Diego

Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

As long as this is your first degree, you should be able to cover it with loans/grants... barely, but covered. I am in cohort 19 and doing it with loans. I have not yet paid a bill to National. I sometimes have a balance, but since they know I have loans they don't usually bother me and then when the next loan payment hits it covers it again. I'll have a huge bill to pay at the end but for me it's worth it.

Unfortunately, if it's your 2nd degree you usually can't get federal loans.

Yep, almost done. We are doing our last clinical now (leadership) and then we are mostly online until we graduate in May. They are changing the program now though so I think for future cohorts leadership will be the last class before graduation. I have liked National's nursing program, but everybody seems to have a different opinion. I have also felt that we have a good reputation in the hospitals so I think that's a plus.

So National does have a good reputation in the hospitals? Great! I was wondering about that because I know it will effect our hiring opportunities. I know a few people who have turned their noses up a National because "it's not a real school" But, it's accredited and that is all that I'm concerned about. I like what it has to offer and I like that I can get in and get my BSN. Thanks!

Hey everyone I am new to this post! Wow there are a lot of pages on this thread! I have spoken to a NU advisor and they said I need to take biomed stats. I live in Irvine and I was wondering if anyone knew of a school that is close that I could take it at. I really want to take it at NU because it is only 4 weeks long and it starts Oct 25th and I would be done by Nov 25th but it is $1386!!!! It is an online class so it wouldn't affect my work schedule. Do you guys think it is worth it or should I try and take it somewhere else. I have taken all the other pre-reqs and have gotten them approved by an advisor. Also how many times a year does NU accept applications? Thank you everyone for your help in advance.

Just take it there! You will get to the program sooner. They take applications 4 times a year!

I guess I am just worried about taking the biomedical stats class and then not getting accepted...? I have gotten straight A's in my pre-reqs except in Human Anatomy in which I got a B. But I am not sure what other factors they take into account.

Those are great grades! You get accepted based on a point system. 50% is grades, 30% is TEAS score, 20%Essay. You will get in with those grades and a good TEAS score and essay I think! Don't loose hope. You're in a good position already :) Take it and apply. I wish I was where you're at now.

I got an 88.8 on my TEAS. Do you know the link to their point system? I would like to see it!

Awesome! I don't know where the exact info is but, I have seen MANY posts regarding the structure of the system they grade you on. And I have done ALOT of reading. If I find a link, I'll you know. But, let's just say you are great position to be accepted. So APPLY ASAP! I am taking the Biostats class next month. I have been reading the book already, and it's not too hard, but it is not easy.

BTW, a girl on here just got accepted with all B's and 1 C on her main prereqs. I think she got an 84% on the TEAS and did well on her essay. So, that shows that you don't have to have straight A's atleast like I thought.
