National University San Diego July 2011 ABSN hopeful

Published

Hi Everyone!

I applied to National University's ABSN program. I took the TEAS and sat for the proctored essay in January, they said we'd hear back by the end of February...it's February 24th and I haven't heard anything. The suspense is killing me...has anyone heard anything? I haven't seen anyone post anything about National in a while, so I thought I'd start a new thread.

This is my first post here in many years . I have been working towards my RN since 2007. I took most of my pre reqs at Grossmont college. I applied to National for the Oct. start date, has anyone heard from them as far as when we are going to schedule our teas and essay. I applied to the grossmont ADN program and didnt get in so I am especially nervous. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats to all who were recently accepted . Thanks for all the valuable info.

So..... I just checked the NU website to find out the status of my application and saw that the application deadline is the 18th. That may be why I havn't heard anything yet DUH. I thought the deadline was March 11th. I don't know how I am going to get through these months of waiting!!!!!

I waited I think about a month to a month and a half before I heard anything about when I was taking my TEAS test and the essay. You should get an email with a date, place, and time. Learn the waiting game with NU! After you do the TEAS and essay you have to wait 3 months to get a response.

To Zeto,

Don't worry. It was March 11th, but they adjusted it to March 18th. I have no idea why, but I did notice it too. If you look at the SOAR student panel it has 2 active registration times for the one we applied to and another one 3 months later.

Naomiomio, thanks for the info. I had read some where that one person only had a week to study for the teas. I was beginning to panic a little.

Hi SDbioMAN, I thought I was going crazy. Did you apply for the Oct. start date as well. I think that would be cohort 28 if I am not mistaken, Ill have to look again to be sure.

Start studying now. Don't wait until you get your letter saying that you have your TEAS test in a week. I studied for about a month. Clearly that person should have not waited until they received their letter. :)

Definitely study for the TEAS a head of time! A friend of mine and I also took it at SDSU before taking it at NU for a practice round. My understanding is that you can use whichever score is the best. I think SDSU recently switched to the newest edition of the TEAS (version 5 I believe) but I'm not sure if NU has. They were both using version 4 when I took it and I ended up having the exact same tests. Also, if you look at the reviews for TEAS study books on Amazon there's a lot of info about what is on the test.

Good luck! :)

Thats why I was so worried. My impression from the post was she had a week to study after she submitted her application. Im sure I misunderstood. I also took the teas at state about a year ago, you felt like it helped out when you took it again at national? I also took version 4, does anyone out there know what version NU currently uses. I did well the first time, but I ran out of time on the math so I know I can do better this time around.

Your right, studying now is the best choice. Then when I do get my date I will be prepare no matter what.

NU is currently using version V

I emailed them to find out.

Thanks for the info SDbioMAN. I am going to buy the practice tests on the ATI website, now I know which one to get.

Hi,

I'm also new to the site and will start the application process for the April 2012 cohort too. I still need to complete the BIOMEDICAL STATISTIC class this June.

Have you taken this class? I'm also preparing for the TEAS Test, but I'm extremely anxious about it. I have taken the TEAS 4.0, and got a score of 79.0. I know NU is using the new version. Can anyone say how hard this is and if the atitesting study workbooks were any good for a high score? What score will get you accepted if you dont have like a 4.0 GPA?
