Hi everyone,

I thought I'd start a thread since I hadn't seen one yet.

I plan on applying for the May application date, however I need to retake the TEAS exam. With all testing centers being closed right now, does anyone have any insight as to how/where I can retake the exam? I've heard some places may provide remote testing, but nothing for certain.

Thanks

Hi All,

My adviser gave me the answers we've all been waiting for!

  1. When is the deadline to submit our TEAS exam scores? June 30th
  2. Do we need to submit all of our test scores? You're allowed to submit up to 3 exams.
  3. How soon after the TEAS deadline do we find out if we have been admitted? Notifications will be sent out by Friday, July 3rd
  4. Is the science portion of the TEAS more heavily weighted than the other three subjects? It's based on your cumulative TEAS Score as a whole.
  5. What is the average TEAS exam score for admitted students? 85.5

CONGRATS thats a really good score! What do you recommend studying off of? I am going to schedule and take it online soon.

I'd recommend purchasing any of the ATI TEAS online study material. I purchased the "ATI TEAS Online Practice Assessment Package - Including A&P". It comes with two full practice tests and one full anatomy and physiology test. You can retake these exams as many times as you want and it explains why each answer choice is wrong or right. I also studied using ATI TEAS Secrets by Mometrix. The book has three full length exams and explanations for each answer.

Does anyone know how they grade the interview? I know they do it by points but does anyone know the breakdown?

My adviser told me the interview scores cannot be revealed, but the scores are based on 4 pts per question and since there were 5 questions, the max points allowed is 20. They take the scores from both faculty members and calculate for the average.

For example:

Instructor 1: 17 pts

Instructor 2: 16 pts

Total: 16.5 pts

Thank you for sharing that.

hi for those that have taken the remote testing. How did the process go? I’m schedule to take mines next week. Thanks

My test was proctored by SDSU. I'm not sure if all institutions run their sessions the same, but for those of you taking your exam with SDSU, they use a program called Proctorio to proctor the exam. If you've already registered for the exam, you should have received an email with three things:

  1. Video instructions on how to add Proctorio to your Google Chrome
  2. Your "Practice ID" number
  3. Your "TEAS Assessment ID" number

You will use the Practice ID number for the dry-run, which is just a run-through of what you will need to do right before your exam. This includes: making sure your camera and microphone work, showing them your ID, scanning your room, and answering three random questions. They do this to make sure you're prepared and aware of how to take the exam. You can do the dry-run days ahead of time or right before your test.

I did mine right before my test. My test was at 12:30 pm and I did my dry-run at 12:00 pm. This was helpful because as soon as I was finished with the dry-run, I was ready to go through the same exact steps but for the real test.

Taking the exam itself is pretty straight forward. Just don't make the same mistake I did and make sure you use the restroom right before your test! LOL! Or just don't drink too much coffee ?

Hope that was helpful! Let me know if you have specific questions.

While taking the TEAS online with Proctorio does anyone know how many scratch pieces of paper we can use? The email I received says one scratch paper but does that mean for the entire exam or for each section of the exam? Thank you all very much for this valuable information!

I believe from the receipt that I got from ATI it said 1 scratch paper.

Hey y'all,

I'm looking into different schools to apply for nursing, and NU has always been on the back of my mind. Initially I was looking at Brandman University, but the person I talked to said none of my credits would transfer over. I have my Associates in Biology and have taken most of the pre-reqs needed but the thing I lowkey worry about is GPA. It isn’t all that competitive and it’s kind of disheartening since I really do want to be a nurse, but I’ve had several professors who’ve shown they don’t really care about their students and that ended up hurting my GPA. I do feel a little anxious because I feel like a lot of people here have very competitive GPA’s and experience.
I don’t have any other back up plan aside from being a nurse and I’ve been feeling stuck, like a bunch of my peers have their lives together and I’m barely getting mine together.

I also wanted to know your guys' thoughts about NU as a whole and about the cost and if it'll be worth it. I guess I'm on the fence about the reviews I've been reading.

Good luck to everyone who got admitted and will start their nursing career!

Hey majoves,

if you have a 2.75 cumulative GPA you are able to apply. They only look at your science and math GPA for admission though. So if you have a 2.75 GPA but all As and Bs in your stats, A&P, and micro courses, you should be good. You could always retake those classes to boost your prereq GPA too. That part is 40% of your “points” to get in.

40% is the TEAS. So if you have a great TEAS that’s really helpful as well!

If you are among the top 90 applicants from these two areas, you’ll be invited for an interview. The interview makes up the last 20% of the criteria to get in.

I was really drawn to NU because I could get a bachelors degree in the time it would take me to get an associates at a community college. Other BSN programs are 3-4 years and have more prerequisite requirements. I talked to a few people who attended the nursing program at NU and had excellent experiences, and really enjoyed the once course at a time format.

hope that helps ? good luck!
