National University - Cohort 61 -SD

Published

Hi,

I wanted to start this for those who are applying to Cohort 61. Has anyone been to a recent nursing info session where they've gone over anything about the newly added interview component?

Thanks!

I got in too!

TEAS 80.7 GPA 3.66/3.7

Can’t wait to meet you all! Possibly want to make a Facebook group/page?

Congrats! I was thinking s out making a Facebook page but wasn’t sure if I wanted all that pressure on me ? but I’d be happy to be co admins with you if you want some help!

I saw a lot of other cohorts do it! Might be a good way to be a support system/get together for study help.

Yeah that's where i got the idea from too! I thought it was a great idea!

Anyone who was accepted is able to join!

The name of the group is:

National University Cohort 61

congratulations everyone!

I got selected as third alternate. I called and spoke with Kyle the point cutoff. He said the cutoff this cohort was 87.8. My total was 87.5.

3.52 GPA, 90 TEAS

I spoke with Kyle too, he said it's unlikely the alts get in. I'll try again for April I guess. ?

Congratulations everyone! This has been a journey and I'm so excited to get started with cohort 61! For those that are still working at it, don't give up!! Study.com and Khan Academy videos helped me obtain a more competitive TEAS score and I ended up retaking a course online through Straighterline to improve my GPA. Hard work and determination pays off!! ?

I bombed my interview apparently. Anyone have some advice how they did well?

@thundermoo5e I was myself ! I interview well...... I have healthcare experience so I think hat helped me answer questions. I was 86 and change and I think 87. Something got in. I’m bummed too but let’s think there’s room for improvement. And we have 2-3 mos to prepare. Plus I had a low TEAS. 80+ got in

They kept commenting on how I’m a second degree seeking student, especially since I completed it at NU.

You need to be very personable. They stated that I was very caring and passionate.

ALWAYS ask questions at the end of an interview.

I asked

- what struggles do you see students having in the nursing program now and how can I as a possible candidate overcome that?

- what characteristics is the ideal candidate in your opinion

then a personal once about the military since I’m currently in.

you want to turn the interview around and interview them and the program you’ll be in.

Also when they ask why you want to be a nurse, it should never Be “because I care about people” no one cares about that. What ABOUT you makes you a good nurse. What inside drives you to be one.

good luck everyone!

Thanks for the tips. I feel my reason for wanting to become a nurse was probably the best reason a person could have, I don’t know what else I would even say when I reapply for round 2... I felt I did very well ? maybe I need to start volunteering.
