National University Cohort 67 San Diego

Published

Hello Pre-Nursing Students!

Despite Cohort 67 being quite a bit away, I figure I start up a thread early for those of us that are eager.

I plan on applying for the May 2021 deadline. I just knocked out BST 322 and am taking ILR 260 with NU this next coming month!

I just took the TEAS and came out with a 85.3!

Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

For those of us who already made it through and ended up on this thread, any insight would be awesome on what to expect!

Hello cohort 67! I got into cohort 68 and was wondering if anyone could share their experience in the program so far? What do you like? What don’t you’re like? Any tips and suggestions? Also- do any of you work while in the program? If so, how many hours a week would you say is do able? Just trying to gauge if working (part time) is realistic or not. Thanks so much!

Hi, I’m from cohort 67! Congratulations on your acceptance! Today is actually our first day of the nursing program so I don’t think we have much advice to share with you yet. Maybe reaching out to cohort 65 or 66 might be a bit more helpful! Best of luck in your classes ☺️

Ah! Thanks so much! ?

Hi Everyone! I have applied to National BSN program twice and have not made it in. For those that applied and didn’t make it, then applied and did get accepted, what did you do differently when you were accepted? Thank you!

My GPA is a 4.0 and TEAS is 87%

Hello!

I am in cohort 67. I applied with a GPA 4.0 and TEAS 86. Got in the first try.
How was your interview?  Also, previous experience is one of the criteria that earns u interview points. Sometimes they don’t even ask questions about experience but it does count per your resume.

the one thing I can tell you I did was I practiced all sorts of interview questions every single day for 2 weeks.

Would anyone here happen to know anything about the CSUSM nursing program and how it compares to the National University nursing program? Maybe someone here knows someone who was in the CSUSM program? I know they are different in terms of the way they structure their classes (the semester system at CSUSM vs. one class at a time at National). But I am just trying to find some input on the pros and cons of the programs at both CSUSM and National. Thank you!

Hi Brezo, I have been selected as an alternative for cohort 69 and was wondering if you could share your experience with also being an alternate. Am I still able to apply to the next cohort? How long do they have to let you know?

Hello,

Did anyone here get accepted with basically no medical experience? I just got denied from Cohort 69, someone had the same GPA as me and a TEAS score 2-3% lower but got accepted and I'm thinking it has to do with their experience in healthcare because I only did a CNA course.

Hello there, I'm so sorry to hear that. I have experienced the same thing before, where someone had the same stats as mine, and got accepted and I got denied.

Medical experience is not required. Indeed it makes students look good, but it depends on the interview. I don't have medical experience except some volunteer work and taking care of elderly patients.

I got denied for cohort 67, and got to cohort 68, of course after repeating A&P. However, I'm sure it was my interview that messed me up.

Don't give up at all. You will get in the next cohort! God has it's time and your time will come trust me. God bless and reach out if you need help.

All the best!

@AA94 Hi! What were your stats? This was my second time applying so I'm honestly considering the LA campus now because their average scores are a bit lower. What do you think?

I had a 3.7 Math and Science GPA and an 88% on my TEAS. I applied to Cohort 68 with no experience and felt like I bombed my interview. I asked for my score breakdown and after doing the math, I basically got a 16. They told me my cumulative score was 87.95 and the cutoff was 91.68.

So before applying to the next cohort, I did a CNA class both to help my NU chances and SWC because it's my backup. I felt like I did really good this time around too because I was wayyy more in depth with my answers and related it alot to what I saw in clinicals, I ended up speaking the full 15 minutes. I'm kinda scared to apply to San Diego again because I still wanna live with my parents and not have to worry about working to barely make rent as I am a college student. I'm a little more scared now because the next one is my last chance and I'm wondering if I should play it safe. I might apply for the May deadline so I have time to retake my A&P as well as TEAS.

Also, I saw on another NU forum that apparently 4 of the interview points are made up by healthcare experience? It would make sense especially since the person I mentioned w similar stats had like 10+ years versus someone like me straight out of high school. That's also why I'm so desperate. I don't have the luxury to work a well paying job to pay rent while going to school. It makes it even harder since I am limited to California and it's super competitive here sigh sorry for the long post, any advice?

Hi I am applying to National University's BSN program and I was wondering if anyone knows if theres an online community college or another school you can take the co-requisites to graduate for the "340A-spanish workplace and Spanish 341- Cross-Cultural" courses? or are they only offered at NU?

*Also does anyone know if you need to have the 2 Spanish classes complete in order to sit for the NCLEX? or its just to graduate?

thanks in advance , please share thoughts on the program
