Hi,
I'm studying for National universitys essay portion of the entry exam.
This is my second time taking it and I was wondering if anyone could help me with what essay topics they have gotten in the past or for this cohort?
There is no way of preparing yourself for this essay as they do not give you any idea of how or what they will use for this essay!
My last essay topic a year ago was something along the lines of, "name 3 characteristics, gifts, talents that you have, that will help you become a nurse."
That's not verbatum but it's pretty close to what I got.
Please Share your essay topics!
THANK YOU!
Just read through everyone's post about the alternate list. I believe that all the applicants that got accepted have been sent an email already and they all had to accept their acceptance on the soar website by the 20th. If they didn't that means there are spots for alternates. I actually am an alternate for this coming cohort 36. They sent us an email that we have to attend the orientation in September which is a month prior to the actual start date, just in case we get a spot we have time to finish the check-list. I was so nervous and stressed when I saw my status saying alternate. I had no idea what that meant so I asked around so we are considered the bypass or waiting list target. I am definitely hoping there are only 3-4 alternates only so that we all can get in. Good luck to everyone else.
I have read on other threads that there have been 10 in the past and that in one cohort 9/10 got a spot. It just all depends on the cohort and how many spots open. In pretty sure it's 10 but I'll keep looking. I think they wait until the day of the orientation to pull from the list. There are people who will drop and maybe miss the deadlines to confirm/show for the orientation. Even if they know some people have already dropped I don't think they will notify the alternates until the day of orientation.

For people who have heard back, in your soars portal --> Nursing application --> application status
Does your application status reflect what you've received? Mine says, "submitted."
