National University Cohort 36 Essay Topic

Published

Hi,

I'm studying for National universitys essay portion of the entry exam.

This is my second time taking it and I was wondering if anyone could help me with what essay topics they have gotten in the past or for this cohort?

There is no way of preparing yourself for this essay as they do not give you any idea of how or what they will use for this essay!

My last essay topic a year ago was something along the lines of, "name 3 characteristics, gifts, talents that you have, that will help you become a nurse."

That's not verbatum but it's pretty close to what I got.

THANK YOU!

Hi All,

I am new and also took the TEAS at National last week. Fingers crossed and good luck everyone!

Does anyone know how to calculate our points? I understand the percentage breakdown of how to get in, I just don't know how to put them into points. Lets all hope we know news of acceptance by mid July, but on all past cohort discussions it seems postponing the news after the date said is quite common. Also, for all of us solo students...what are everyone's plans of obtaining medical insurance for the program? just going private and paying for it? National doesn't seem to offer any advise and paying 100+ a month for insurance on top of everything else really sucks.

Island, here's the formula for calculating points:

Science GPA: gpa/4, then mult by 30 (it's worth 30 points of our app)

TEAS: your score/100 x 30 (also 30 points)

Essay: score/5 x 20

Attempts: worth 20 points as well, subtract 1 point for each attempt to pass with a "C". (I thinkkkk that's the formula but I haven't needed to calculate it out do I could be wrong!)

As far as insurance, some schools offer a VERY basic plan. I'm assuming they go over all that at orientation, once we're accepted. I was just planning in crossing that bridge when I get to it! Ha.

Thanks blueeyes. I'm sure you are correct, the break down makes sense. Very basic is all i would need lol But ya...with all the Bridges we face that is the best plan. Just a waiting game now.

I got accepted!!!

I was accepted as well!!!!!!!! what a relief! do you have facebook? we can make our first friend :)

That's awesome! I do have Facebook. I'll go ahead and create a group!

"National University BSN Cohort 36"

Try searching! Although, because there's not a significant amount of members it may not come up...

So do you know how many spots and alternate spots are available?

I believe 50ish spots and a few (3-4) alternates? Just a guess though based on other threads here...

Does anyone know how likely the alternates will get in?

I'm assuming you're an alternate? :)

Usually most programs tap into their alternate list, but it just depends on how many accepted take their spots.
