Hi Everyone:
I am currently in the process of trying to get into national university's ABSN program for the fall 2009 at L.A location, anyone who has gotten into the program (both L.A and S.D) before or still in the process of applying, I would really appreciate any feedback from all of you guys about your general status (overall GPA, TEAS, etc) or your insight about this program overall. I feel like nowadays every nursing program becomes a lot more competitive than before, even for the private schools. So any feedback or comment would be very welcome from all of you guys, Thank you.
Great! Do you know how long after I apply will I get a call back or email regarding if I'm accepted or not? And are the start dates year round or only in the Fall/Spring?
It depends. Acceptances typically occur two months prior to the program start date.
Oh, also, does the ABSN offer externships/clinicals at hospitals so we can get experience before we graduate?
Because of the newness of this program, they do not offer externships. Clinical rotations can be anywhere from the San Fernando Valley to the Greater LA areas, so be prepared to be flexible with commuting.
I am in the process of applying to National U - LA Campus. There are certain steps you need to take before the actual application process.
1. attend forum - they will give you all the details about school, pre-reqs, program info., etc.
2. complete pre-reqs. - some courses i took did not transfer, so i had to retake them (i would suggest having them take a look at your transcripts to see your progress so far)
3. send all your college transcripts to national, so they can fully review to see if all your pre-reqs are complete - this takes 4-8 weeks (after this step is complete you will be able to fill out application)
4. submit application
5. take TEAS & essay
6. wait for response
Right now I'm in at step 5 and will be taking my TEAS & essay next week.
Hopefully this answers a few questions.

How did your TEAS & essay go? I'm also applying for LA campus and I take my text next week. :) Very nervous about the science part since it is my weakness. I'm wondering what the essay topic is since no one seems to mention it.

Hi, the TEAS weren't that bad. Science is my weakest subject as well. Do you have a study guide book by any chance? Most of the people who took it in my section had one. It will help you get a sense of the type of questions that will be on the test.
I am not going to talk about the essay topic because it would not be fair to the people who already took it. All I'll say is the essay topic is a standard question.
Just by curiosity, when are you taking the test, because the deadline to apply for the program I believe is on the 7th and I know National needs everything done by that date. Hopefully you will meet the deadline if you are trying to get into the May cohort!
I believe this thread is mainly for Accelerated BSN. I don't know if there are other threads about the Generic Program.
Sorry, I don't know much about the generic program because I am going for the Accelerated BSN.

another question. I already have my BA in social science, most of the "prep for major" courses were completed with my BA...so do I skip that part and just take the nurses courses? How long would that take? All I need from that list are the anatomy, physio, and micro. I'm currently taking anatomy with lab...but they at A&P 1 and 2...is that the same as taking anatomy with lab and physio with lab *separate course vs. combined?
