For all nurses not aware re state of national registration:
The NMBWA (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Western Australia) informed me when I rang them that national registration is available for ALL Australian nurses INCLUDING WA from 15/10/2010.
You will only have ONE title on your registration card: RN and/or midwife. No other titles will be displayed on your registration. If you are a RN & midwife, you will be on the RN and midwifery roles. We will have to provide details of any post grad studies, certificates, etc to each employer, so I was advised to get your qualifications in some sort of professional portfolio.
The cost will be $115.
However we will only be registered till May every year. The NMBWA were unsure as to whether we still pay the $115 or half the fee till May, then pay the $115 from then on. Apparently, this is yet to be determined.
Just thought I would give everyone an update. If you already know this information PLEASE DO NOT email me endlessly and tell me you already know! I am tired of having my posts deleted on this site, and am only posting this information for those who need it.
Hope the info helps.

What...posts are deleted...? Yes, us already under the umbrella know that if you had endorsement before National registration, you will no longer have this on your registration.....and the money is going up, the gossip I got recently was that they did not know how much it was going to be, but it the number banted around was much higher than $115 for the annual fee. Thanks Carol C:uhoh3:

Nope, tis $115 annually. This poor stupid NZ nurse let his NT rego lapse and it is now $115 + $115 application fee. I think it is kind of a rip-off given the Trans Tasman thing and all they do is look at 3 or 4 forms you provide and approve or deny. I have held registrations in at least one state in Australia for many years but just let it go last year. So, 230 AUD is nearly 300 NZD for me and a quarter of my pay in a fortnight. I guess if I leave it lapse for another year I will break even.
