Well, I just took my NAT and rocked it out and if I did this formula correctly then I got 107.52 of the 112 possible points for admission. I didn't do as well as I would have liked on the spelling (guessing it's in the academic aptitude total), if I wait 3 months, should I retake it or be happy as a clam with these scores?
My nursing pre-req total is going to be b/w 93 and 105 points (depending on if they count a grad school course for my Human Growth--93 if I have to retake, 99 if they let my child psych count--which they might since it's on the degree audit and 105 if they let my grad school A in it count).
I'm going to apply for Fall 2010...live in Nassau Cty and would hope for Nights/Weekends.
Any advice or should I just be happy with what I've got?
Thanks!

The total points that you are able to get on the nat is 120. I believe that you add up you points for academic aptitude, reading comp, and natural science and multiply the total by .64. 93 and 107 would give you 200 pts, and that should be more that enough to you in. The las couple of semesters, the cutoff has been around 190ish so usually anyone over like 195 is a shoe in. Is the NAT hard? Im studying and Im going to take it soon.
Sorry...just got around to reading your response. I just posted this reply on another thread so thought I'd share with you...
I just took the exam 2 weeks ago. Did the practice exam from the website. Scored well on it. Most challenging part for me was the spelling on the actual test--was harder than the practice test. Pay attention to your exam section times because you have to move fairly quickly on most parts--1st part I actually ran out of time and I'm pretty quick on tests. It doesn't hurt to guess if you don't know an answer. Be prepared that the reading comp is typically written in VERY formal language and is a bit harder to comprehend. Most questions if I wasn't 100% sure of the answer, I could narrow it down to 2 possibilities so doing that will help as well (increases your chances of a right answer if you have to guess).

the total points for acceptance for this fall was 201.24 and after some people declined their seats, the lowest score i saw that got in was still over 200.00. points wise you would have made it in after the declines with 200.52, or if your higher grades were used you would have made the cut-off. last fall the cut-off was 190.72, so it is over 10 full points higher this year. the spring and summer have fewer seats and usually have higher score cut-offs. this is becoming much more competitive, and i don't see it getting any less so. my total points was 207.64 and i didn't get nights & weekends, so hopefully you have a backup plan if you are needing nights & weekends. most of the people that i see that get nights & weekends have scores above 220.
good luck
Wow Wilbur, that is VERY competitive! It seems that I would have to get an A in both my A&Ps and Micro to even stand a chance I have been lucky enough to get A's in all the other pre-req with the exception of Chemistry which I am dreading-eek! I am also going for N/W.

Wilbur...the post you "corrected" was back in 2009...but, you are correct to point out that the scores keep getting higher. I finish in 2 weeks!!!! :yeah: I had 217.xx starting Summer 2009 and I did the EVE/WE program.
Wow, that is impressive! How did you accomplish that?! I need a mentor! lol

There are some sample questions here: PSBTests.com - Site Resources
under RNSAE Sample Questions. Although to be honest, they're quite a bit easier than those on the test. As for studying, I wouldn't worry about it. I got a 117 on it my first try, just walking in--and I hadn't even had my coffee yet!
Just go for it! You can always take it once more in 3 months if you feel you didn't get what you need. Good luck!

Hey ladies congratulations to all of you on your acceptance into the RN program!
I had a question about the NAT. I am shooting for the summer or fall of 2011.
I wanted to know if any of you brought a book or study material to help you prep for the test that actually helped.
