Hi everyone! Anyone applying to NCC Spring 2016? I just took my TEAS yesterday. They are using a new way of selecting applicants so it will be interesting. They are using all classes pertaining to the program, rather than the four. Also, they aren't using the science part of the TEAS. Anyone else have any more info?
I have a BS and 3.57 in 7 classes that I have. NC resident. TEAS...I may take again, but I scored Reading 83, math 67, English 70.
Hi! I just joined this forum. I applied for the NCC Nursing Spring 2016 semester too.
I couldn't take the wait anymore so I called admissions and the woman said I GOT IN. I asked her several times if she was totally sure, she said yes. I'm going to call the nursing department tomorrow just to confirm (because of course I'm still paranoid and want some other form of confirmation). The nursing dept. office closes pretty early and it was too late for me to call. I still haven't gotten any emails, letters in the mail, or any updates on myNCC.
Also, I did notice on myNCC that my student info changed to where it now says "admit term: Spring 2016". But it still says "current program: not pursuing degree" and "major & dept.: previously graduated, not assigned" So I guess I'm still waiting for registrar to approve of me getting a 2nd degree.
I was actually surprised I got in...if I actually did, still paranoid ha. Here are my stats in case you guys were curious:
TEAS: Proficient
Previous grad from NCC and current resident of Nassau county
NCC GPA: 3.86; However, I did attend the University of Iowa and my GPA was HORRIBLE, it was like along the lines of 2.5
A&P1: A
Statistics: B (U. of Iowa)
Gen. Psych.: C+ (U. of Iowa)
English: A
But the thing I think what got me in was that I have ALL the pre-reqs/co-reqs done, and got A's in all of them at NCC except a B+ in microbiology and Gen Chem II...and I got a C+ in organic chem, but I don't think they would even look at that
Also, maybe they considered the fact that I was accepted into LIUs BSN program for the Fall 2015 semester & I'm currently taking classes. Reason why I decided to apply to NCC even though its just an associates of RN:
1. Its like 1/5 of the cost
2. Just a warning for those considering LIU: please DON'T. The staff is rude and indifferent in pretty much every department. As much as they tell you at orientation: "we are here for you" "we know nursing is difficult" "we will help you" "there are plenty of resources and extra help available" its all bull****. There is a situation going on where more than half of the students in the entire program had to drop the main fundamentals of nursing class & clinical lab because the grades were terrible (includes me). The majority that stayed barely passed with a C+ (they actually curved some grades that were below, but very close, to the 76.45 requirement just b/c so many students weren't going to move on to the second half of the semester), and a good amount of students who stayed did indeed fail. There's a rumor going around that there is a lawsuit going on over the whole situation and the argument is that the schools is setting us up for failure while we are dishing out $1000 a credit. I wouldn't be surprised if that is true. I would complain more but I guess this isn't the thread to do so right now lol
I called the ND today and was told I was accepted. Still no letter/email. Guys don't give up. I know it seems so unfair and exhausting. The last two times I was rejected, Nassau was doing the point system. Points depending on your GPA, TEAS and residence. I didn't get in the first time. So, I increased my Teas to an advance to get extra points since I wasn't getting any nassau resident points. People with lower Teas than I had, were accepted. Someone with lower Teas and the same GPA that I had was accepted. I didn't get in for the second time and I was lost and confused. I knew it had to be something else that the other applicants had that I didn't. A trend most had.
I'm assuming the trend now is having all the classes completed to have a better chance. That seemed to have topped Tea scores. Since Nassau's process is confusing, I wasn't chancing it. I applied to City Tech's nursing program also. They are sending letters in January. Guys, remember to have a plan B. I know Farmingdale and City Tech accept the Teas. Continue to work at it because you will reach your goal.

i thought they disregarded grades of C? Don't give up, if you're willing to pay I think NYU will accept you with your grades, you're definitely higher than me.
