Hey Everyone!!!! i didnt see a thread for NCC spring 2015 nursing program, so i figured i start one. Anyone plan on applying for spring semester?
You could also share some insight if you're already in the program. Like how the application process was for you and your gpa as well as TEAS scores. im sure any info would be helpful.
but your score is still proficient, getting in is like playing lotto
Yes it stinks but I'm retaking my TEAS, reapplying, and taking this opportunity to apply to other schools as well. From what I was told, the computer generates the list based on scores and they take the top 64 in this case. For future applicants, don't take your TEAS too close to the application deadline like I did so you have a chance to retake your TEAS if you do not score what you'd like. And congratulations to you!
I spoke to the blonde lady in the nursing office. She told me that as far as TEAS go, those with "exemplary" and "advanced" will get accepted, as long as you have the minimum gpa..."proficient" scores however become nitty gritty, so the gpa is looked at at that point to then place each student over the other. She made it pretty clear that a high TEAS score trumps a high gpa... but then again they seem to change their admission standards every other semester....?

my friend who is on the nursing board advised me that its based on a point system.
1. Area you live in = certain amount of points (Nassau county residents get the most point)
2. Gpa = [4.0-3.8], [3.7-3.6] and [3.5 and below] (all brackets have specific points)
3. Teas Score = [exemplary] [advanced] and [proficient] each rank has their own set of points
And they they will tally up all the point and pic the first 64 people (computer generated so no will get favoritism)
This info comes from someone who is on the board
Yes you are absolutely right with their point system. From what I was told, if you live in Nassau, you get an additional 15 points. If you live outside of the county, it doesn't necessarily hurt you. You just don't get those extra points =\
I have been following all of these posts and updates. I live in Nassau county and still haven't received my letter. Today, I called the admissions office to see if they good give me some information. This is what I was told…. only SOME of the letters were sent out because they are still processing applications. She pulled up my Nassau ID and told me that my application was still "sitting" there to be processed. She told me that I could receive my letter anytime during the next two weeks.
I was also told at information session that GPA, TEAS score, and residency were the only factors that were looked at, and the top 64 were given spots. Clearly this is not the case, if some have been accepted and others haven't even had there applications looked at. I'm extremely disappointed and confused. This doesn't seem like a "fair" system.
Good luck to everyone! Just wanted to pass along the information that I received!
