Any one applying for Nursing at NCC for Fall 2018?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently a 204 student and took a peek at allnurses just for the hell of it. I remember being in your shoes except I submitted my apps 2 weeks before the due date. I started at another college for my pre req's and had a 3.6 gpa. I applied to Adelphi's nursing and got rejected (I was young and dumb and only applied to one college because I thought I would get in). I waited a year before applying to Nassau and got in on my first try. My prereq's were mostly A's and few B's ... except microbio I got a D..... luckily Nassau dropped it and I got to retake it during summer at Nassau and got an A. For TEAS I think I got low 80's for my english and science. My math was a 98 lol. I live in Queens so def lost points there.

Also, Dr. Rich retired Dec 2017 and Professor Buckley took over Jan 2018.

The BSN paperwork has been passed but I don't think this BSN program will kick off for a year or two. They need to plan out curriculum, textbooks, professors, and classroom space. Currently the nursing classrooms are at the Life Science building and we share it with other students from different programs.

I wish everyone the best of luck! Even if you don't get in keep your head up! Be stubborn about your goals but flexible about your methods. Keep applying to other places and retake courses if you need to.

If you have any questions I will try to answer them as best as I can.

For those of you who get accepted don't buy textbooks unless you like having a physical book over an online version. Most books are provided through an online library database.

The only book you needed to buy was the nursing diagnosis book and drug book (by 203 they make you have one on hand).

Thank you so much for all your information! Best of luck in all your endeavors :)

Thank you so much! I am takin A&P2 in the first summer session and bio medical ethics this summer and I will reapply in Oct! Fingers crossed!!

Figured this might be the best place to ask. Has anyone taken bio medical ethics online? I see it's offered online in the summer session but was wondering if it's a class best taken in person or if it's something easily done online?

Taking a&p first session and a&p 2 the second session with bio medical ethics, I'm debating on taking human development third or first session

I took it in person last semester with Favia. The class wasn't hard but she was a super tough grader. 2 tests and 2 papers with quizzes in between. She's a great professor but the way she grades the papers are terrible. I ended up getting a B but I know two girls who tried pretty hard and ended up with a D+ and C. Overall, check rate my professor if you can. Idk how it would be online but I would say you would be better taking it in person!

Agreed about ratemyprofessor although since I know I need these classes and am limited in the summer I guess I'll take what I can get

Exactly. I took a&p1 last summer and I have to say I think some of the course material can't be covered cause of the limited time. The summer courses are only 4 weeks long, so they are definitely beneficial! Best of luck

Was it hard? I know it's going to be a lot of work but I want to give myself a heads up haja

It was rigorous. I work full time during the day 7-3 and the class was 6-10:30 pm. 1 test each week for 4 weeks in both lecture and lab. Please use the resources in the library. They have a section in the library on the right dedicated to people taking AP1/2 and Medical Microbiology. They have tables and all the models you need to study for lab! John is the tutor he's a RN and he is amazing!!! I was there everyday I'm between work and class and on my days off.

I took biomedical ethics online and got an A. wasn't difficult at all.
