Nassau Community College Fall 2016

Published

Hello, I am wondering if there is anyone here that is applying to Nassau for Fall 2016. I have applied and I'm scheduled to take my TEAS exam on 3/18. I do not have all of my pre-requisites which I understand gives me a better chance of being admitted. I plan to take classes this summer and will take the rest in the Fall if I'm not admitted. I would just like to know thoughts on getting into this program. Also, if there is anyone currently in the program please share your thoughts on how things are going for you. Thanks!

Yeah I called the nursing dept and the lady said I would have to contact admissions since I applied through there. So I called them and they told me they sent out the letters from admissions on thursday/friday. I dont understand how hard it is to just tell the truth, kind of ridiculous.

I completely understand how both of you feel because I was in your shoes last application period. Basically I was given the run around for a good two weeks. When you filed the application out it possibly went straight to registra instead of being forward to the nursing dept like it was supposed to. So the nursing dept probably never received your application. Worst part is I still have no idea where my application info that I gave to admissions is till this day

It's so unfair. This was my last try. I've been doing this for two years in sick of being rejected. Maybe it wasn't meant to be.

That cant be possible can it?? If thats the case I'm going to make it a huge deal, I paid my application fee and everything just like everyone else. They had to have reviewed my application.

Don't give up boo! It took me 3 years. If this is what you really want don't give up. When you feel like giving up that's when you push harder. Every rejection letter I got it made me more determined. What classes are you missing?

Sadly it's very possible. I can't say what it is in your case but in mine. Long story short I followed the nursing dept instructions and gave all my info to admissions and paid a application fee. I was a non matriculated current student at the time and they said I still had to pay the fee. So I waited and waited. When i went to admissions asking questions looked at me like i have two heads and the nursing dept had no record of me applying. So one day I went to admissions and I demanded answers, I wouldn't leave until I got a answer. They gave me some bs answer -_-. My application went straight to registra instead of being put into the nursing application pool. I didn't understand how that happened when I gave them all my info. I was admitted as a liberal arts student for spring 2016. The lady I spoke to, she was in charge of the nursing applications, said I wasn't the only person this happened too. Go up there in person and demand answers. Ask to speak to Dave Follick, he's the dean of admissions if you have too.

I think mine went to registrar bc my "acceptance letter" is from registrar

Which is crazy because you should of received a letter from admissions or the nursing dept about the nursing program. Registrar send emails i believe. Unless they changed it

Yea I think so too. The envelope says admissions tho

I called admissions because I got the same letter from registrar that noted nothing about the nursing program only about general admission.. The nursing dept told me because I didn't have ALL pre reqs like most people have that that pretty much automatically takes me out of the running for a spot. So annoying -- they should not say there are no pre reqs mandated to get into the program when in reality there actually is. Waste of time and money, wish they would've been more truthful like saying, if you don't have all core classes completed don't bother applying.

Frustrated

Wow that's really annoying. I had all my pre reqs already so I wonder why I got that letter.

Finally got to speak to someone. My letter meant I didn't get in. They said my GPA with just the nursing classes is 2.98 and needs to be a 3.0. My overall was higher than 3.0 so I'm confused how they got that total. They accept u as a non degree to take classes and reapply. I won't be.

Hey, I applied to NCC'S program and was rejected. Applied to a program in FL the same time, and was accepted. Don't give up. NCC is ridiculously competitive because they don't have a county residence only rule like most of the NY schools, and they are cheap.

Apply to other places NCC isn't the only school around.
