Looking for anyone who is applying to NCC for Spring / January start ( or anyone else on the road to applying) who wants others in the same situation to go through the process with.
Hello Znaid
First - got to one of the nursing seminars given almost monthly at the school.
Besides the pre reqs, try to take as many co recs as you can. Summer / wintrim sessions are good for that. And keep your grades HIGH.
Generally, they go by GPA, how many classes you have completed, where you took these classes ( I believe NCC students have advantage over transfers). I have head of people getting in with 3.4 GPA and have also heard of people getting rejected with 3.8. Maybe it has to do with how many credits they have completed - but no one knows for sure.
Also, be sure to go to acedemic advisement and ask for the Nursing Curriculum guide and be sure you are registered as a Liberal arts and Science major /Associate in Science so you can register for AP II and Micro later on. Hope that was somewhat helpful. Good Luck
Hello Nursing Class of 2012 !!Interview was not bad.
What class did everyone get? I got G1.
I think I saw you yesterday. I was there at 9am. Where you in the row closest to the windows first seat? I was going to say hello, but I was beyond nervous. I am in G2. Did you get your textbooks yet? I got one they told us to get. Do we need all the other required ones before January 18?

I agree with everything. I never took a summer/winter class though. I know people that got in with a 3.5 having all their classes, except Micro and Nursing classes done. I know someone else who didn't get in with a 3.5 with everything but Micro, Soc and Humanities.
I think they give advantage to NCC current students. I took all my pre reqs and co reqes except the sciences elsewhere and got in. Oh make sure you are a matriculated student. Otherwise you can't register for classes until the very end.
I'm in the evening class. Most people scheduled for the 1:00 pm interview were in the evening program. It's been a stressful week. Studying, then going for the interview and trying to find time to decorate & go holiday shopping. So relieved it's over. There are students in my A&P2 class that applied for nursing that have 4.0 gpa(s), with most of their pre and co requisites done and didn't get in. It's crazy. They're the smartest people in my A&P2 class. If I was the chairperson, I'd want them in my nursing program. Hopefully if anyone decides to drop out of the nursing course, they'll get an acceptance letter.
Hi evap2010,
I'm also relieved it's over. I had the 11:00 am interview, and I'm in the evening program. I completed A&P II over the summer. The only classes I have left are micro and the second psych. I also have a bachelor's degree from St. John's. Did the students in your class take statistics? Statistics has to be completed now before applying. In any case, I hope those who didn't get in don't get discouraged. I applied to Stonybrook's 12-month accelerated baccalaureate program. I didn't get accepted. Then I looked into Nassau's program and am thrilled that I will be going there instead. I have two children, so I don't know what made me think I would have been able to handle a 12-month program for a second bachelor's degree while traveling 45 minutes each way every day.... lol. Getting rejected was a blessing, so you see, sometimes things work out for the best. Good luck to you and your friends.

Hey Everyone! The best of luck tomorrow! Quick question though: For registering, do we need to have anything else besides proper identification?
