MyCAA users and Excelsior

Published

A question for those using Excelsior and how to apply for the FA portion of MyCAA. Exactly what do you put down for the start and end date for your course? Also, I believe that I read about someone stating that you can email the FA voucher to Excelsior - which email is that? I am hopefully going to get a call into Excelsior tomorrow but figured I would ask around first! Thanks!

Alrighty--as far as the start and end dates I think I just picked any random 6 month period. It doesnt really make a difference, just as long as you finish in that time.

As far as emailing your FA letter. Sign in to the site and click on your Education Plan. When you get to the appropriate course (that has already been approved) there should be a link that says 'Print FA'. When you click on that link a box will pop up that says either 'Open', 'Save' or 'Cancel'. Opening will allow you to print it or saving will allow you to Save as a PDF file. Save it and then you can attach it to an email or a message from MyEC Message Center to the Bursars office. I believe its the 3rd Party Biller or something like that, that deals with the vouchers. In that email you have to say something to the effect of 'I would like to be registered for ____, _____, and _____ exams". As soon as they receive the voucher, within a few days they will automatically register you for the exams that you requested. Good luck!

OMG has this post just made my DAY!!! :) I had NO IDEA that the MyCaa could be used for the Associate Nursing at Excelsior and i asked about this a YEAR ago to them and to EC and no one knew how to apply the FA! I have 3500 left in my MyCaa acct to use and i just got off the phone with them and they said i can start a whole new career plan and use the remaining amount of money for my RN i'm soooo THRILLED! I only have 10 tests, plust the CPNE to take so now i don't have to worry about finding the money to pay for the classes!!! =)

I did as you suggested Felicia and sent the vouchers in this morning. Thank you so much!!!

And Tasha, I was sooooo excited when I found out the the mycaa would pay for the Excelsior. Excelsior is definitely the best option for me and my family and since I am working as a LPN (and drawing blood, all the fun stuff) I believe that experience will cover the whole clinical thing.

Good luck with Excelsior, lpnkc.

is this the correct email address to send the vouchers to? [email protected]

Just FYI, check out the new MyCAA guidelines. Not sure which rank your hubbies are but they just completely messed it up for me. Am trying to contemplate how I am going to get this done now. :(

Okay just read the new message they put out..i';m gonna call tomorrow and confirm, but from what i understand of the message if you already have an acct you will be allowed to use the money as long as you put a START date for your class as beginning BEFORE Jan 15 (you can put an end date for June of 2011 if you want) and you have up until October 1st to utilized what you can. i think too you can request the FA for up to four classes so i did that tonight so that it will be honored. I'll just have to push all my clep tests off to next year and use what i can of the MyCaa funds for the nursing classes now...it means i have to enroll now early too, but i'm okay with that if my classes will be paid for!

Spouses who currently have an active account will be allowed to request financial assistance until Thursday, October 21, 2010. And beginning September 1, 2010, spouses may request financial assistance for classes that have a start date up to January 15, 2011. To ensure adequate time to plan for courses, no career plans will be accepted after August 31, 2010. All currently approved financial assistance documents will be honored.

By the time I got access to MyCAA, I had already completed all of my Excelsior theory exams (Nursing Concepts under the old curriculum). I was, of course, grateful to be able to use MyCAA to cover the expense of my CPNE, which is coming up in September. FYI, when you all get to that point, I was also permitted to use MyCAA to cover the expense of attending Excelsior's NON-CREDIT-BEARING CPNE Online Conferences as well as a CPNE Workshop to prepare me for the CPNE.

I can't believe I am almost there!!!!

Yeah, I was going to take my time on actually enrolling but it looks like I will probably be doing that soon and registering for as many of the exams as I can (I had planned on trying to be done with all 8 by January anyways...). It is still a bummer because my hubby is about to pin on E7 so there is no way I can use MyCAA after they switch it up. I could rant on and on but really my intention for the post was just to let the military spouses/members using MyCAA get a heads up if they needed to plan!
