Hi everyone. I went to the beach sunday and didnt think the sun felt that bad so i didnt wear sunblock. Later on that evening i had sun poisoning because i had the nausea, chills, vomiting etc. the next day my legs and arms were so bad, they were very swollen and i later found out they are 2nd degree burns. When i stand still the pain is excruitating, like my nerves and muscles are getting squeezed to death which is due to all the blood flow rushing to my extremities but when i elevate my feet they feel better. Anyway 3 days past and it felt it was getting worse i could barely walk so i went to the er. They prescribed me prednisone to help with the swelling so its now day 2 that ive been on it. Im suprised they didnt give me silvadine cream because i am blistering a little bit nor did they give me pain meds which blew my mind. Its now day 4 since the beach trip and i have definitely learned my lesson. I am almost finished with nursing school so i shoulda knew better to put sunblock on. I just wondering how i can speed this healing process up. It hurts very much to walk and i just want to get better. Any tips from anyone for what i can do? Im in alot of pain and i cant work because im on my feet all day so it would hinder the healing process. Thanks

You need to contact your provider for medical advice... but I do hope you feel better soon!! That sounds painful. Hugs!

I'm sorry about the sunburn. And yes, hindsight is indeed 20/20--you will probably never forget the sunblock again.
However, per the TOS, we at allnurses.com can not give medical advice. You will need to contact your healthcare provider.
Feel better soon.
