Well, it cut off at 75, and I feel like I failed. I know everybody leaves the NCLEX feeling like they failed... but I feel like I failed. Not a good feeling.
My questions were OVERWHEMINGLY priority questions. Who do you see first, who do you visit first as a home health nurse, who do you assign a floating nurse to, who do you room with who, etc. Very difficult, not only because you have to know something about 4 conditions, but you have to know how serious they are against each other! A couple of peds (mostly prioritizing), one OB, a couple of psych (who do you assign a floating nurse to?), and only a couple of psychosocial things. No disaster drills whatsoever. Some equipment questions. Some diet questions... Overwhelmingly med-surg. Lots of meds, some I knew and some I had never heard of in my life- not even that slight "oh I read about that" recall. They would seem real hard and then I would get a really easy one, and think, "Oh my God, these are so easy and I just must be failing to find them hard!" Or, they were test questions. Or the hard ones were test questions! Argh.
Only 2 new formats, both check-all-that-apply. Hopefully one was a test questions because one of the options was worded HORRIBLY, and only hours later did I figure out what they meant.
So yeah. I am crying off and on, very very frightened. This seems rather like a hazing ritual for new grads, doesn't it? I guess in a way it is... but Lord, I really feel like I failed.

Jen,
75 is a very good number and even if you did fail (I'm sure you didn't!) you gave it your best shot and the worst thing that can happen is that you have to take it again. Calm down and get some rest. You are probably just emotionally drained. It does feel like a hazing ritual, but allnurses have to go through it. In a few days this will just be a bad memory.
If it helps, check out some of the other threads on here about NCLEX, I have never heard of anyone failing at 75!
I really wish you the best of luck, Take care of yourself!

jen,
i felt the exact way you feel. i thought the test was difficult, especially the priority questions. when you narrowed it down to two answers, both of them were right but which one was more right. it was very frustrating. when the computer cut off at 75 i was so sure i failed, but i passed. the rumor is, if you feel like the test was difficult and you feel like you failed, more than likely you passed. try to keep yourself occupied. i know it is easier said than done. go do something nice for yourself. i'm sure you did fine.

I took the nclex today to, had an hour drive home in the pouring rain, cried all the way home. Mine shut off at 75 also and I felt like someone had hit me in the stomach with a 2x4! Mine was mostly proirity and delagation. None of the new formats. I just know I'll be going back.

Dont give up! I thought the exact same thing when I took my LPN boards last year, and will probably think the same way tomorrow morning after the RN exam.......... remember its set up so you get about half right/half wrong..... out of all of them, remember 15 are "practice " and don't even count, so you probably did better than you think you did! good luck! :)
I passed! The Board of Nursing called me this morning... talk about service! (Apparently they do that for all out-of-state candidates.) I feel so relieved and happy, like a huge weight has just lifted off me! I was sure I'd failed... so take heart, you probably passed to!!
