:balloons: WooHoo! I did it! I finally got a job in Case Mgmt!
I have been applying and have interviewed for about 3 different positions, finally got an offer, just cleared all the background clearances, etc and start my 'new' Mon-Fri 7a-3:30 job! OMG, I am nervous, a little scared, I guess, just cause I don't know what to expect.
I have become so burnt out on bedside nursing, the shifts, politics, etc etc. I decided I needed a change, but don't want to leave nursing and have always liked the role of case management. So, without any case mgmt experience....off I went and now....here I go! I feel like I'm starting a new career! Can you tell I'm excited???
I guess there's nothing really anyone can tell me....about what to expect....
It's just such a different environment....not the hospital anymore.
When they told me the dress is "business casual"...I was like...hmmm, OK, I need a whole new wardrobe....all I have is scrubs, casual and dressy!
LOL, what a great excuse to go shopping!
Thanks for all the info. Admin wants to see if I can find a "boot camp" for Case Managers so I can get good info on the regulatory side. I can make calls, refer people and that sort of stuff but the CMS regs scare the liver out of me.
I love what I am doing because I finally feel like I am truly helping people and they appreciate what I do.

SALARY EXPECTATION??????????!!!! WASHINGTON STATE....PLEASE HURRY AND RESPOND , I only have a few days to negotiate a wage. Anyone work for an Ins. Co. doing CM? I've just been offered a position with a "nationwide" company and would really like to know what the "average" salary for an RN is to start new in CM....( 14 years experience as a home health CM. I'm really excited too, although there's a lot of new stuff to learn, but am tired of the driving and want the straight up hours and days. PLEASE HURRY....AND THANKS IN ADVANCE GUYS....
Congrats on your offer! I have no idea what your salary offer would be in WA state...although I would be interested, as I am planning on a move to WA in a yr or 2. I can tell you, here, in CA (San Diego, notoriously low paying), I took a pretty big pay cut from the hospital to this job. Try salary.com...it is pretty accurate as far as my neck of the woods.
Oh, I did a per diem shift recently and realized, again, why I wanted to get out of the hospital!
Good luck!
