My Final Countdown!!!!

And how thankful I am!!!!

I pick up books on Monday Sept.28th (14 for 4 classes:stone), Thurs. Oct.1st is orientation, and then

FINALLY Monday Oct. 5th is 1st day of class. I have all my 'stuff' together...pens, hilighters, binders,

etc. Claimed a study area....turned the dining room into my official study spot. We usually eat in the

kitchen anyways, so I can leave my stuff there and no-one should bother it.

My schedule isn't too bad either. We don't have class on Fridays and clinicals won't start for us until

next qtr. Here's my schedule: Intro to Prof. Nursing 830-1230 Mon.; Principles of Asessment 9-12 Tues

and Critical Thinking/Studying/Reading in Nursing 2-4 Tues; Prinicples of Assessment Lab 830-1230 W/Th.

I've been so excited and anxious for this day to come and now that it's upon me, I am completely

nervous!! The jitters are horrible.

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Kathy

Wishing you lots of luck! I'm sure you'll do great, and I can't wait to be in your spot next year. :)

Thanks, Sara!! :loveya:

You will be there before you know it. It goes by

so quickly!!

Congrats Kathy, and good luck!!!

Way to go Kathy! The first week will likely be heavy with paperwork. I have just finished the fifth week of my ADN program and can't believe how much we have learned already. I know what you mean about the books, we joke about needing a wheelbarrow to tote all of our stuff around campus. Good luck at school next week.

Thanks Zoe, Bandaid and Charlie!

I'm excited/nervous still. I can't believe the time has finally come! I didn't expect to be so nervous though. I'm hoping to give an update after I start. I've been here forever reading everyone's posts on their first day of nursing school. Hopefully, I have a general understanding of what to expect. Thanks again!!

Update.....

Picked up books this a.m. after dropping the kids off at school. 12 books, $773.00. Thank the Lord for financial aid! With so many books, hard to tell which goes with which class. Some are obvious, ie. Fundamentals and Health Assessment.

It's all so very real now. Really real.

Orientation is on Thursday. Order uniforms, get nursing kit that day as well.

Just excited and wanted to share.

Some of the books at my program will see little use this first semester, such as med surg. This first semester is a bit hard on the wallet, but the others will not be as bad. Have you gotton your shots yet? Might be a good ideal to start a little reading before school starts, just see or email your teacher for an ideal where to start.

Yeah, I got a MedSurg pocket notes book and not even starting MedSurg yet.

I've gotten all my shots....still have the rest of the Hep series yet to do.

Thanks. I've already started reading for Fundamentals and Phys. Assessment.

Thanks again.

kathy,

i just wanted to wish you luck! you'll do just fine once you relax and settle down a little bit. just remember everyone else in your classes will be as nervous and hyper as you are because it's new to each of you. give yourself permission to make an occasional error and before each test, read and review your material and go over your notes one last time, and you'll be fine. i used to make myself flashcards based on what seemed confusing or hard to me to use in addition to the purchased ones and that helped too. cramming the night before an exam never worked for me. you'll do a great job.

Thanks, Kathy!

Cramming doesn't work for me either. I read everything before lecture, take notes, go home, review, and type my notes out on the computer. Everyday. It's a lot of work, but it helps it to stick and knocks some of the cobwebs and dust-bunnies out! Repetition works.

Thanks again. I appreciate your tid-bits, too. :)

hi kathy,

me again... my college professor husband just walked by, read over my shoulder, and said to tell you asking questions is just fine as long as you've read the assigned material you were assigned first, you don't disrupt the class asking one question right after the other after the other because if you have that

much to ask about, go to office hours instead. he also said that most professors and instructors aren't ogres if you are good student and don't try to con.
