"Fear of failure must not be a reason not to try something" -Frederick Smith

I do questions only and learn from the rationales. I read every rationale even if I answered correctly. I do 50 question in one sitting and then I'll take a break. Then I'll go back and do another 50 until I reach 100-200 day. I do read up on content but most of the content is from study guides that I have.

Thank you so much for the info!!!

Hey, Everyone! Can I join your thread? I am scheduled to take the Nclex next week and I am so nervous! I graduated Just a couple of weeks ago and we were encouraged to schedule our exam sooner rather than later. This is what I am using:

Kaplan on Demand ( I have been listening to the lectures, but the majority of my day consists of practicing questions)

Saunders 5th edition

Kaplan Nclex-RN strategies practice and review

Lacharity prioritization and delegation

Davis Med-surg success

Just thinking about this exam, makes me start sweating!

Re-read the respiratory system followed by practice test from Hogan cd(25 questions)

Watched Hurst videos on respiratory and cardiovascular system

Did 50 questions from NCLEX 4000 on cardiovascular system

Did 75 questions on cardiovascular system from Hogan cd

I tried my best to finish the cardiovascular medications but unable to.

I know cardiovascular medications are very important for the exam and is the hardest of all.

You did very good study every day. I try to do more review like you, but I couldn't do it because of my slow reading speed.

Medication is the hardest part to study. I make notes for medication whenever I see the medication in the questions, the way helps me to memorize name, side effect, adverse effect, and contraindication.

What I did on 8/28/12:

Read Saunder content Addictions (short chapter), did 10 questions at end of chapter.

Did 100 questions from Saunder Q & A review - Mental. I have left 272 quesitons in this content, wish I will finish all for next two days.

Do not worry and take one topic a day and you will be fine.I am just giving myself a pressure to study so that i will stick to my plan. Medications are all about memorizing the fact and i am planning to revise it everyday.I liked the way you study the medications but what about the medication that you do not see on the practice test.

Hello everyone! I am still waiting for my ATT letter but right now I'm studying Saunder's 4th edition. I guess I will be taking next year, around May 2013. I still have a lot of time but I think I'm already anxious about the test. I am planning to review using Kaplan early next yr. I prefer to take next yr because I need a lot of time to study, and I don't want to rush things. Can you give me some advices? I work on graveyard shift on weekdays and sometimes I am not that motivated to study. Please help. Thanks!

You do have a lot of time and i would suggest you to use this time wisely. As some say practice questions everyday and there is no need of studying content. It works great if you are a recent graduate but if you are not then content is the key to pass this exam.Without knowing content no one can ever dig into the right answer just using test taking strategies.I am a repeat test taker and i have seen the exam more than once.NCLEX-RN exams are really so random.During the appearance of the exam i was not 100% confident about my content and i believe that is the reason i failed. As, every individuals are different and no offence to anyone views or experiences. In my opinion, Hurst videos are great for the content and you will learn so many things that your teacher never mentioned while you were in nursing school.

Hi Inna1

I started prep to NCLEX. MY book only Saunders 8 Edition and Kaplan Course, NCLEX3000.

What does PDA, Exam cram,Personal review and Rationals?

Could you please help me to figure out about these book ?

Are they necessary need to prep NCLEX ?

Thanks

hi bayou, im also going to take my nclex around october, i feel so anxious about it,

I just started with saunders comprehensive review. im now on the acid base balance, was actually planning to follow the schedule made by saunders software but couldnt keep up.

Hi roxygal,

I am so glad you join us for study. We can help each other. More we prepare the less anxious we will be.

I have read one time for Saunders Comprehensive Review 5th. Since I have graduated from nursing school for many years ago, I have to review the whole book to make sure I understand every single medical term and comprehend content. For acid base chapter, I review twice and do many questions, finally fully understand.

I didn't pay attention there is a schedule made by Saunder. Some time I saw people doing over 200 questions a day, it made me panic. No matter how long I study, i couldn't do that much. So i calm down myself to follow my own pace to make sure I fully understand every single question rather than number of questions.

Make you own plan if Saunders' doesn't fit on you.

Hi AspiringRN2b,

I feel so bad I didn't study any for the whole day, because I have been packing up all foods, medicine, and other stuff in my house for termite fumigation by tomorrow for my house. I will live in hotel with my family for next couple days.

I wish i will find out time for study.

Seeing your thread is part of my life now.

Have a good study.
