what must I do, pls help

Hi, here I am again, asking for your very patient hearts to pls illuminate me and unstrangle my throttled mind. I am already 30, I want to hurry things and do everything like reviewing nclex, ielts, volunteer or train at a hospital or even apply for a job at a hospital, all at the same time. I am pressured because as I checked the newspaper ads, some hospitals are hiring at a maximum age requirement of 30 and I am running out of time. Agencies required an applicant to have at least 1-2 years hospital experience for one to work in the US and I have none and I am slowly draining my husband's pocket. Pls don't get annoyed with me as I am so confused and depressed. Thank you very much in advance

I had the same dilemma a few years back.I graduated 10 years ago and didnt have any hospital experience.I concentrated on passing the exams NCLEX and IELTS. I applied to a US based agency on the internet. They found me a facility that's willing to sponsor me.My age didn't matter as long as I passed all the requirements.

At 30yo you;re still young, alot of people taking nursing as their second course as matured as 50 so age is not a really a problem.;)

That really helps vgsrn, thank you very much

hi! sis I know how you feel..there are so many who are at same boat as you are including me hehehe to start im already 34 and also has limited experience..but dont let that bother you I've seen people a lot older than me and you still at the nursing school I even met one she is a retired school teacher about 58 yrs old and doing volunteer work at my training hospital and reviewing for the nclex {she already passed her cg mind you...) at the same time...As suzanne always say experience doesnt matter much once your in the us coz youll always start fresh because of the different hospital setting they have there. Vgsm is right just concentrate on your nclex ;) take it cool dont rush everything at the same time...rushing will just make you more confused and stress out...God Bless ;)

Thanx a lot jadegarden, that is very inspiring, hope you don't mind, may I ask you, are you working now as a staff nurse?

All you need is a lot of reading in this forum, it might take you 1 week minimum in order to figure out how youre going to proceed. You dont need an agency actually, its much better if you know what to do and how to do it yourself rather than relying on those agencies. All you have to do is calm down and sit and read in the forums posted here. Take some notes if you must and then do the assessment on where you stand.

that's a relief to know! i just went back to college and shifted to nursing instead of being a teacher and there are so many 32 year olds there like me, there are even older and much much older students than me so i'm sure there is a way to get work later on. like the original poster, i am getting impatient too, can you believe i have like 3 years to go and i'm already practicing and reading for the nclex? with the original poster's english on here, i bet he/she can pass the ielts like me bwahaha... don't worry and let's take it one step at a time! goodluck to all of us!

thanx lavalin and lots of love, what a relief, I know now that I am not the only one. Yeah, good luck to us all
