MUSC BSN FALL 2014

Hey! Just wondering if anyone out there has applied for the MUSC BSN Program for Fall 2014??? I plan on applying this December so just want to know if any other applicants are out there or if anyone knows any tips that you could provide for getting in :) thanks in advance!!!

Okay I spoke to someone in admissions and they said any medical office job is kind of stretching it for what they like to see. they prefer jobs that have clinical experience :)

I'm glad you found out! Did they give you any other pertinent information?

I'm not sure- I had not checked this since I applied last cycle. Perhaps it is a typo? If so, then 60 slots still isn't too bad. If not, hooray for 6 more hopefuls getting a spot in the program!

I also asked for the break down of how they score each applicant, I guess it has changed a numerous amount of times but what I was sent is the most current. She also told me that they will accept anyone that obtains a GPA between a 3.0-4.0, they will deny a 4.0 though if they have a lack of volunteer or work experience in the medical field. If you are in middle of classes they will accept you but you have to be finished with your classes and of course not fail out of them. If you want I can tell you the new scoring system. Also, does anyone know how many applications they have already received? Or how many they are predicting to receive for Fall 2014?

ml52789, I know you said you received full points on your essay on the other post...what exactly did you include in yours that put it over the top?

I haven't posted it :) lol

Cumalative GPA: 30%

Pre Req GPA - 25%

Science GPA - 20%

Essay - 15%

Military Experience - 2%

Related Volunteer Experience - 3%

Related Work Experience - 5%

I wish you as a military spouse you could get the "military expericence" hahaha

Ahh I wish so too!! Someone who applied priority last cycle heard 3.5 weeks after the deadline.. That's this week for me! I hope I get something in the mail soon.

Correction: I hope I get a GOOD something in the mail soon, haha!

How many priority people do they pick before looking at regular applications? I KNOW! I think if your not including them in the scoring process why require them! I guess its another way for them to decide if they want you or not bad enough. She did say the references are still an important part.

I know on the 2013 post you wrote that you got full points for your essay. How exactly did you do that if you don't mind me asking?
