Hey! Just wondering if anyone out there has applied for the MUSC BSN Program for Fall 2014??? I plan on applying this December so just want to know if any other applicants are out there or if anyone knows any tips that you could provide for getting in :) thanks in advance!!!
Well 2 of my references would be local, 1 would be about 9 hours away in Florida! The final days for class are like the 12th and 13th of December so I am hoping to have my application completed by the 15th. I may decide to tell my references to mail their forms that way I can plan it a little better. We will see! My grades are not to shabby and I will have over 150 hours of volunteering, half of which will be in a hospital...my references will most likely be my general manager at work, a high teacher/volleyball coach, and either my volunteering head or a professor from this Falls semester. I cannot quite decide! Do you know what kind they prefer to see as far as references?
I didn't know you could update your resume after submitting the first time either- I just waited until the last day to make sure everything I had done was reflected on it.
This time I submitted early but sent an updated resume reflecting additional volunteer hours the day before the priority deadline. Now the long wait.. I'm hoping to hear by mid September! Seems like there aren't many Spring hopefuls on this forum :/
You'll make it, I'm sure :) I considered applying for spring for that reason, but found out that I am pregnant with baby #3. Needless to say, I am scared about starting nursing school and trying to keep up with my fam. He/she will be only 5 months old when I start, so it is going to be tough. Have you applied to other programs or just MUSC? I am in for TTC in the fall, if I don't get accepted at MUSC.
That's how I feel right now @mamagui! I am working 32 hours a week, starting classes next week which will be 12 hours a week, and volunteering 4 hours a week, all while dealing with my husband who is working nights and my 6 month old child! lol People say nursing school is tough but if I can handle all of this I think I can handle nursing school haha
Congratulations on the baby on the way!
I applied only to MUSC.. I feel like it is the right fit for me.
I hear you all on time commitment- I do not have any children, but have a border collie and two cats, work 45 hour weeks, volunteer 10, and my husband is typically gone 3 weeks out of the month. I can only imagine what having children must do to your time commitments!
I'm definitely very hopeful for this admissions cycle- It hasn't even been a week from the priority deadline and I'm already wishing for mail from the admissions office!
Hello everyone!
I will be applying to MUSC in December for the Fall 2014 program. I have no volunteer hours BUT I am a CNA and have a job at a hospital as a CNA and safety sitter and log anywhere from 24-40 hours a week so by the time I apply I will be around 500 or so hours there. I am taking 3 out of the 4 pre-rec classes this Fall that is why I am waiting till december to apply. Also, I am out of state.. My cum. GPA is about a 3.1 due to a failed course. Im not sure what my pre-rec or science GPA will be since I am still taking those classes. Any hints on what I can do to improve my chances? I know my GPA isn't ideal.. but I am so passionate and determined to do this I could use all the helpful tips I can get!! Thanks everyone!
