MUSC ABSN Spring 2015

U.S.A. South Carolina

Published

Hi everyone!!!

I wanted to go ahead and make a thread for MUSC's Spring 2015 hopefuls. I know it is a little bit early to start this thread, but I am just so excited. I am looking forward to everyone stats and encouragement for each other. Looking forward to the results!!!

Oh okay, yeah I have heard of patient sitters before. Where are you located? Are you near Charleston, SC? There are a lot of tech job openings for Roper St. Francis and there are probably some for MUSC (haven't looked at MUSC's job list in a while). If you are interested, I can maybe put you in contact with someone so you can get some experience.

What all do you need to be a tech? Im in hilton head south carolina so about an hour and a half away from musc.

Usually, you have to either be in nursing school or have taken one of the basic nursing courses. I got hired on as an EKG tech and was crosstrained as a patient care tech. For the EKG tech position, you didn't have to have any prior knowledge. You get trained beforehand and while on the unit. Being a patient care tech isn't rocket science, so I think you may be able to get a patient tech position if you applied. It's mostly learn as you go. It all depends on who's looking at applications! :)

Hilton Head is a little ways away from Charleston. I'm not sure what kind of hospitals are around where you live, but I hope you are able to find something that would work out for you.

Thanks. :) ill be looking for you guys to say you were accepted :)

You get the most points for your GPA then the other stuff comes into play. They want a well rounded student. So points in all categories are important. However, most out of state spots go to priority out of state applicants.

Oh Moca, good news they finished at least looking at my app for prerequisite deficiencies and since I was prob one of the last ones who applied maybe they are starting to go through them now!!

That's awesome. Thanks for keeping us all updated!! I am getting ready to look at my app status now. I applied July 3rd....I kind of wish I applied later so I wouldn't be such a worry-wart lol.

I wish they had a thing on their web page that would say when they start reviewing applications and when they are completed. They could totally cut phone calls down.

On the bright side it is almost October and we should know mid to late October hopefully!!!!

Do you have both work experience and volunteer? Is it possible to get both the 5 pts plus the 3 pts for volunteer
