Hi there. I would like to know, how much money do I need to save for my IELTS exam? I am planning to take my IELTS anytime this year but I still don't have an idea how to process it. Please help me. Thank you so much.

Hi, id i remember it correctly, the IELTS test fee is Php8640. You can visit/call/e-mail the two test agency - British Council in Ortigas and IDP Austraia in Makati - to inquire.

Here's their link:

Good Luck!

IELTS exam fee is currently P8640.

Many of the IELTS schools in the area provide assistance for their students, although if you are doing a self review there are a few independent companies which assist with applications of that nature. The fees for that kind of assistance vary but the average is about P700, some are less and some are more.

if you fail the exam do you have to pay P8640 again?

yup, i guess you have to pay the Php8640 again if you are going to retake the exam. But don't see yourself failing the exam, do your part on ensuring that you pass. IDP Australia and British Council, I think, are conducting free IELTS seminar, which you can avail to enhance your test-taking strategies. They also have some review materials for sale.

Also, you do not need to apply through an agency to process your IELTS application. Don't waste an amount for that coz you can do it yourself. Just visit the links that I've previously posted, review the process, complete the requirements, then off you go to their office and schedule your exam. Its easy.

Good Luck!

The British Council offers free use of their review materials if you register with them, just present your receipt when you want to use it. I am not sure with Australia IDP if they offer the same thing.

Thank you so much for all the replies.:yeah:How about the review centers for ielts? how much do they usually cost? Can you recommend the best review centers? Thanks again.

There are a few that stand out in my mind. American English would be the best that I can think of. They teach real English and communication skills rather than just teaching you how to pass an exam.

SpeakWell also focuses more on communication, they state that the review method used is compatible with either IELTS or TOEFL and the students from SpeakWell perform well on both.

Universal Worker has an IELTS program that seems to be very strong as well.

Magister uses a solid training and they are routinely hired to do in-house English programs for many universities in the area as well as the English training for call centers in the Manila area.

Niner has a strong reputation, however I have spoken to several of their "graduates" or whatever you like to call them... sure they passed IELTS but they still cannot communicate well in normal conversation.

What is the point of passing an exam when you still can't communicate?

I had my IELTS review at Kaplan Manila, and they charged me Php7500 for a month of review, including the use of their laboratory materials (tapes, books, etc). They have a great program for test-taking strategies and real-world communication. Also, you can always review on your own, there are books out there that you can use. Same goes with CD's and other media tools. Then you can watch english films, tv programs, read english newspapers, and all activities that can enhance your English-Language skills.

Good Luck!

P7500 is pretty expensive for a one-month review. Most other IELTS are P6000 or less and provide unlimited classroom review with one-on-one coaching.

I've always felt Kaplan was overpriced in spite of the quality of review that they provide.

i read the posts... am contemplating on IELTS self review or with review center... yes, 7500 is somewhat a big amount of money. but is it worth it? i would like to take my chance. and, what was that issue that what you have to write in your address should be a Manila address otherwise you'll be asked to come back on a different day....
