MTSU Spring 2014 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Tennessee

Well the deadline for applications was yesterday!! I am so nervous. I applied with a previous Bachelor's degree, 3.355 GPA, 93.43% on the HESI, A in A&P I, B in A&P II, and Micro in progress. So afraid I won't get in. I am sure we are all in that boat because it is drilled into us that it is so competitive. Anybody know when we can expect to start getting called for interviews? Just wanted to start this thread for any other Spring 2014 applicants to MTSU that may want to chat.

I just have to say that I am in the program now and your GPA and HESI scores are higher than mine were when I got in. Good luck to you!

I just got a call 20 minutes ago and set up my interview for Tuesday. BUT I turned my application in a few weeks ago. I'm not expecting to get in, I have a 3.2, got an 82 on the HESI, A in API and a C in APII (horrible professor for Summer class). I feel ok though since I just got acceptance letters for Cumberland and Columbia state yesterday. Can't hurt to try though! Good luck to you!!!

I was called on the 3rd to schedule my interview for tomorrow (8th). I am nervous too! I applied with a 3.23 GPA, 88 on the HESI, and B's in A&P I and II. Im in micro right now...who do you have? maybe we have class together! It would be nice to meet some of the hopefuls! When I talked to Kim, she said that they had only received 140 applications this time and that they hadn't gone through all of them yet so there was a chance that the number would be less than that. They accept 64 and 20 go on an alternate list to replace the people who decide to go somewhere else or something comes up so they can no longer attend (like if they fail a prerequisite) So those people who get accepted to other schools and decide to go there should let them know ASAP so the alternates can have a spot! :)

The composite score is based on GPA, HESI, and interview points. You can get an additional .5 points for work experience. So for you Torsedes, your score would break down like this; 3.355/4 GPA, 3.73/4 HESI, and then whatever you got on your interview (when you get your interview). Grand total is out of 12. I read too about preferential placement for applicants who passed A&P I & II with a C or better the first time, but I don't know for sure if they still do that. Ive done a lot of research into this haha. I only applied to MTSU, which may have been stupid of me, but I think I'll be ok. :)

good luck to all of us! With the statistics being that roughly 46% of the applicants will be accepted, I hope we all make it!

As a fellow Tennessean, I just wanted to wish you all good luck in getting in your school of choice!

Thanks for all the info on how many applied this time. Rumor has it that the number applying is way down from normal so I am hoping everyone posting here can get in!! I have Zamora for Micro. Oh my interview isn't until the 24th. What kind of questions do they ask if you don't mind sharing? Also, how much did you dress up? Like as a guy I am wondering, shirt and tie or full suit? Lol... thanks for any info you can provide.

Congratulations on Cumberland and Columbia State!! I hope we can all get in MTSU though!! My friend went to Cumberland and she is an awesome nurse and has been working over a year now. Good luck wherever you end up going. Motlow is my first choice if I don't make it into MTSU I think. How was your interview??

My interview was fine, I should have probably prepared better. They asked about my two greatest strengths, and my greatest weakness (the weakness question was the one question I did not answer well..) I think I did pretty well over all. They asked how my friends and family would describe me as a person. They also asked why I want to be a nurse, and what other medical experience I have, since I mentioned I have a few years' experience as a medical Spanish interpreter. It was pretty relaxed and the interviewers were very friendly. They also gave me an opportunity to mention anything else about myself I wanted them to know, but I honestly couldn't come up with anything else at the time, as there previous questions pretty much covered it. Not too terrible and very brief!

I had my interview today as well! I don't think I prepared well enough for it, so that kind of makes me nervous. It also went extremely quickly. I was probably in and out within 10 minutes. I applied with a 3.636 GPA, 90% on the HESI and prior work experience... Super anxious to hear something. I was so nervous by the time I had walked out that I didn't even pay attention to when she said they'd be e-mailing letters out. Good luck!

Oh, just so everyone knows, I heard today that 4 out of the 140 applications were not accepted because they were incomplete or did not meet the requirements, so 136 total applications and they will pick 64 final candidates, including any of the 20 alternates who might happen to get to take a spot. Cross you fingers everyone!! ;) By the way ems4736, awesome GPA and HESI scores. I bet you will get in for sure. My GPA is what worries me... that's what I get for coming back for a second Bachelor's degree because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do the first time. Lol... Good luck to you!!

Hey everyone. I was accepted into MTSU's nursing program last semester, so I am currently a first semester student right now. Just wanted to post what got me into nursing school at MTSU on the first try. That way you kind of have an idea of what gets you into the program. I didn't have any work experience, I made A's in AP I & II, A in Microbiology. My GPA at the time of applying was either a 3.79 or 3.82 (I really can't remember), 92 on the HESI, and not sure what I got on the interview part (never did bother to find out what it was). However the interview was not bad. They were very friendly during the whole process. I think last semester there were over 400 people that applied, so if the numbers are in the low 100's this semester, then I am guessing you have a better chance in getting in. But I do find it interesting that the applications numbers are so low. Especially since there are sooooooooo many pre-nursing majors at MTSU. Anyways. Good luck to everyone :)

anyone enroll in their lpn to bsn program?
