Good evening everyone.
My name is Nicole. I made this forum to connect with potential Mt Sac nursing students who may be applying for Spring 2018 admission. I'm am applying and wanted to see everyone's status, and maybe gain some insight on what is to come. I have not taken my HESI yet; I am taking it August 17th. I am also working on finishing up a summer class to know where my gpa stands for points on the multi criteria. I am between 76 and 83 points depending on my HESI score, gpa, and work experience. Not sure what the cutt off will be for the Spring 2018 semester, but I'm hoping I will have enough points. Hope everyone is having an awesome night. Hope to hear from future students.
Hi All,
Just got the orientation email. The dates are still Jan. 8th, 9th, & 10th from 8am to 4:30pm ( Building 67A, Room 206/216). There is also an attached math packet which needs to be completed showing work and turned in on the first day of orientation; all of the math is fairly basic but there are a bunch of questions. Can't believe we are almost there!
PS It also asked that we reply confirming our attendance.
hey guys! I got accepted and received my orientation packet via email...I hate to ask this question but im keeping it 100% real when I ask this...
does anyone know if there is a drug screening test performed at orientation? or any other time during the program or before we start?
Hey cowboy! Congrats! I haven't exactly asked, but I'm pretty sure screening is part of the process at least initially. I'm thinking that there's no way to get around it since clinical rotations occur in hospitals.

Congrats on being accepted!
I found this information on Mt. SAC's Nursing program website:
Other Program Requirements
Meet the minimum physical and mental qualifications to perform essential nursing functions (see Essential Functions).
Criminal background check and drug screening must be completed prior to any patient contact.
A physical examination, including specific immunization is required of all candidates prior to the beginning of nursing classes.
Current Health Care Provider CPR certification
Hope that helps!
Thank you for looking into this guys! Do you mind asking your friend about when the approximate drug testing date is? Is it sometime before the start date of the program or sometime during the duration of the program? i just want to ensure that the actual drug screening doesnt take place at orientation.
Hey so she just got back to me! She said "Like for example, if you have orientation tomorrow, at the orientation school will give you handouts, which will tell you the instructions. You can do it whatever time you are available - 2 weeks later or 3 weeks later - just before the dateline" hope this helps :)
