  1. I went on Tuesday and plan on going tonight. They basically just covered basic math (multiplying fractions, dividing fractions , mixed numbers , etc) and then started basic conversions. The teacher said next week we will start doing dosage calculations. By the way do you have facebook? They setup a facebook page for our class so we can ask each other questions.
  2. We just finished orientation this week. You don't have to have CPR before being accepted into the program. Mt. SAC only accepts CPR courses offered by the American Heart Association. I already had my card before being accepted because I volunteer at a hospital but I would recommend getting in touch with the nursing department. I think they would rather you wait until you are accepted that way your card will be good for the entire 2 years. My opinion just concentrate on doing well in your prerequisites and if you have time maybe volunteer. I am in a program called COPE Health Scholars and it has been a great experience. Good luck!
  3. Congrats on being accepted! I found this information on Mt. SAC's Nursing program website: Other Program Requirements Meet the minimum physical and mental qualifications to perform essential nursing functions (see Essential Functions). Criminal background check and drug screening must be completed prior to any patient contact. A physical examination, including specific immunization is required of all candidates prior to the beginning of nursing classes. Current Health Care Provider CPR certification Hope that helps!
  4. Great! Thanks for calling :-)
  5. Just curious, has anyone received their orientation packet yet?
  6. They told me to mark off on my calendar mandatory orientation January 8th - 12th , 8am - 5pm. Hope that helps!
  7. No problem. I saw the message but wasn't sure if it was for me. I am not sure if we start clinical right away. My guess is no because they probably need to teach us the skills to do clinical. I am only guessing but I am sure they will tell us more at orientation.
  8. I also have a bacleor's degree but I don't believe we are able to get financial aid to get an associates. I think you can still apply for the BOG waiver but for books and supplies I would look into private loans.
  9. I believe its overall GPA , so that would include all class in addition to your science classes and English class. You also have the ability to get up to 40 points if you have a 4.0 in your three core science classes ( Anat 10A/35 , Anat 10B/36 and Micr 22).
  10. Yeah that's what I found when I looked at last years schedule from this time. So the dates aren't exactly the same because it's the dates from last year but I assume it will be pretty similar.
  11. No, the counselor I saw said they go over everything at the orientation. All the counselor does is look over your transcripts and checks if you are missing any classes. Then she showed me where I was on the list and what the first semester schedule would look like. Good luck tomorrow!
  12. Yeah, it will start end of February and our Nurs 1A class goes until about April 23 and then Nurs 1B starts April 24th and goes until the June.
  13. I'm in! The top points was 96 and my counselor said they sent out about 100 emails. This is what I believe our first semester will look like. Semester 1 – SP 2018 Units Schedule Clinicals hours Date NURS 1AThe Nursing Process I 5 M 7 – 11am , 1-245pm 16.88 2/27 – 4/23 NURS 1BThe Nursing Process II 5 M 7 – 11am , 1-245pm 16.88 4/24 – 6/18 NURS 2Pharmacology 2 R 730 – 1030am 2/27- 5/21 Units 12 I believe I figured out the other semesters if anyone wants to see what those will be I can email it to you. It's not for sure of course but I went off the previous semester schedule.
  14. Nope, just Mt. SAC. Talk about putting all my eggs in one basket lol.
