Mt. Sac nursing program spring 2018

Published

Good evening everyone.

My name is Nicole. I made this forum to connect with potential Mt Sac nursing students who may be applying for Spring 2018 admission. I'm am applying and wanted to see everyone's status, and maybe gain some insight on what is to come. I have not taken my HESI yet; I am taking it August 17th. I am also working on finishing up a summer class to know where my gpa stands for points on the multi criteria. I am between 76 and 83 points depending on my HESI score, gpa, and work experience. Not sure what the cutt off will be for the Spring 2018 semester, but I'm hoping I will have enough points. Hope everyone is having an awesome night. Hope to hear from future students.

Or if anyone knows what date the first mandatory meeting is for the candidates who were accepted, please help me out lol. :/

a follow up appointment? did you have work experience and they're still calculating your points?

They told me to mark off on my calendar mandatory orientation January 8th - 12th , 8am - 5pm. Hope that helps!

Didn't they tell you?

Orientation on Jan. 8th-12th 8am-5pm...

PS Does anyone have a clue why orientation is going to take 36 hours...

I'm a little confused, my counselor said they weren't sending out final acceptance letters until the second week of November. Did anyone else receive the same info?

yea i got the same info that theyll send emails the first 2 weeks of nov. they also told me to keep jan 8 -11 open.

@candicore okay I was just making sure I wasn't going crazy over here. Can't wait for them to send the final acceptance letters so I can be at ease!

Congrats on everyone who was accepted! I am a lurker as well lol. Regarding the Hesi exam, do you guys recommend taking math 71 prior to taking the exam? Or, did it consist of basic algebra such as the material taught in math 51? Thank you for your time

Hi helena 909, The algebra on my exam was fairly basic and was covered in 51, but that's not to say that all of the exams contaian the same matetial, they don't. I took 71 before applying and I was glad I did, mainly because it had been so long since I took 51. The classes that helped with the math portion were chem 10 (conversions), math 110/stats (ratios)-my exam had a lot of ratio problems, and math 51&71 (algebra and basics like percentages); however, all of the necessary concepts were discussed in the Hesi materials I used for review.

By the way, I took 71 before applying for four reasons: 1) I had the time, 2) I needed it for my degree, 3) I didn't want to take it during a short semester, while I was in nursing school, or after I was done with the program, 4) I'm hoping to work on my BSN while in the Mt SAC program Via CSF's bridge program; 71 was necessary in order to be elegable to take math 110 which I need for transfer.

Hope this helps...

has anyone received the acceptance emails yet? i was just curious. i was told i was a candidate for the program and asked to wait for the acceptance email, but i haven't received any yet. thanks.

No they didn't. Which is why I'm asking. According to these threads, some counselors were more flexible in providing more information to candidates than others.

I am still anxiously waiting on an Email.
