Mt. Sac nursing program spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Good evening everyone.

My name is Nicole. I made this forum to connect with potential Mt Sac nursing students who may be applying for Spring 2018 admission. I'm am applying and wanted to see everyone's status, and maybe gain some insight on what is to come. I have not taken my HESI yet; I am taking it August 17th. I am also working on finishing up a summer class to know where my gpa stands for points on the multi criteria. I am between 76 and 83 points depending on my HESI score, gpa, and work experience. Not sure what the cutt off will be for the Spring 2018 semester, but I'm hoping I will have enough points. Hope everyone is having an awesome night. Hope to hear from future students.

I took the HESI this morning and got a 86 :) I was aiming for a 90 but I can't complain considering I was still cramming last night :( but I definitely felt the HESI was easier than the TEAS. I didn't study the HESI book but I did purchase the app and that helped so much! The questions are super similar to the test itself.

Yay congrats. That is still a very high score.

What section did you think was the hardest.

Probably the anatomy/physiology since it's so much information to study for. Everything else is pretty straight forward

Congratulations! So you know your scores right after finishing the test?

I took the HESI this morning and scored a 91. I used the pocket prep app, which was super helpful. I also used the HESI assessment exam book, this was really helpful as well. All the subjects were pretty straight forward, but be ready in the math to not have a calculator and some of the questions are not multiple choice. After each portion of the exam you will be able to see the score you got on that section , so that was helpful. Lastly, I found it better to do the reading comprehension first and then the math section, those took me the most time. Hope this helped , good luck!

HI EVERYONE!! I took the HESI this morning (AUG. 15th) and scored in the mid 90s which has me felling pretty good about my position overall, but I guess you never know until you do... The exam was pretty much as I expected except that it took way longer to complete (It took me 4:10/4:30 hrs.) and that all of the math had to be done long hand, ugh! For some reason I thought there would be an on screen calculator? Anyways, hope you all do really well and we all get into the program. BEST REGARDS!

Hi Nicole,

Our situations are really similar. My overall gpa came in lower than I expected (-2 boo!), I got a B in Micro (-5 DBL UGH!) but I scored in the mid 90s this morning (Aug.15th) on the HESI (+5 YAY!). I think you're in a fairly good position with 78 points, Best of luck!

Congratulations Jenn! I took the HESI today too and it went well. I would have said hi but there were so many people. I was the person that asked if we could leave early and then left early lol I got a 93. The HESI was easier but the teas was so much shorter. It took me about thirty more minutes to do the extra fifty questions and also the math by hand.

Thank you! And congratulations to all of you too !

I did recognize you from Rio when I took the HESI! Yes definitely the math by hand threw me off and I had left the math portion for the end and instantly regretted it.

Hey everyone.

So I'm pretty bummed right now, but trying to keep my head up and be positive. Hoped to get a 90 on the HESI, which would put me at 78 points. Received a 89.2 on the HESI (only 1 or 2 more right questions for a 90), so it bumps me down 5 points putting me at 73 points. Applied to the program on Saturday anyway, but I know there is pretty much no way I am getting in. In the meantime, I am going to try to get work experience and maybe take Spanish 2, which will give me 5 or 6 more points. Hopefully that will be enough. So sad but I guess life always has bumps in the road and all you can do is find another way. Good luck to you all. Just curious, what did everyone get on the HESI? How many final points are you going in with?

Have a good day :)

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the score your wanted but a 89.2 is still a great score on the HESI. I know you said you're going to try and get work experience but if you need volunteer experience I am in the COPE Health Scholar program. It's a program that allows you to volunteer at a hospital and every three months you go to different departments, which is helpful because you can see if there is a department you enjoy more. Also, not sure what your grades were for Micro , Anatomy and Physiology but I remember at the information meeting they said you can retake one of these classes but only once. I know they said, for example, if you took Anatomy 10A, and got a B you could take Anatomy 35 to try and get a better score. I would follow up with the nursing department, just in case. I wouldn't give up hope!

Good luck!

I am sorry to hear your results, but you did well. You can't tell until the last moment. If not, work experience will surely help I think. I got 91.6 and around 90 points right now. Hope I can get in. Good luck!
