MSU Denver ANO 2017 Start

U.S.A. Colorado

Hi everyone! Is anyone thinking of applying for the Jan 2017 start at Metro for the accelerated program? I can't seem to find any recent posts about this.

Hello there! I have also applied for the ANO program at Metro and am so anxious to hear back. I have completed a degree there back in 2013 so I hope to be able to attend again!

If you do not mind sharing I am wondering what ranking some of you applied with?

If I calculated correctly I am pretty sure I have 14/15 points for the ranking. I got a 91 on the HESI which is where I lost the point. My GPA is a 3.751 so I just got super lucky that it didn't drop under 3.75. What about you?

I believe I got a 13/15 I also got a 91 on the HESI and I think I just lost a point on the GPA so I was a tad bummed about that but I am hoping it is sufficient to get into the program because this is the only program I am applying to and I already took this semester off since I finished all the prereqs.

To the comment from bostonbaby I am thinking about going for the NP, its going to be a long road! haha you?

I think I have a 13/15, 95 on HESI. Couldn't get the metro points..

Hey everybody, just joining the conversation here. I'm wondering how many applicants are former MSU students because two whole points off for not having attended there (I did not) seems like a lot...

I got a 95 on the HESI, but only have a 3.6 GPA so losing a point there...I should get all the other points, although my CNA was expired and from out of state, so I'm just hoping they're still giving me credit as I spoke with ----------------------- and he said that it should count. I wonder if I can call and ask, or if they wouldn't be able to tell me something like that.

Also, for those who are still taking classes (I'm taking two) how would that work if you get accepted? It would just be an acceptance contingent upon you keeping your grade up in the class, or they won't officially accept you until you finish the class?

I'm applying to Metro ANO program next year (Jan 2018 cohort hopeful), and I'm trying to get all of my ducks in a row. Can you tell me what additional healthcare certifications you had in order to get the 13/15 on their scale? My prereqs are finished, and unfortunately my GPA is 3.68. I hope to get full points on the HESI + the 2 points for CNA with 250 hours. That still leaves me with only 11 points on their scale.

I could retake Micro or A&PII (my "B" classes) for an extra point on GPA, but I really don't want to do that.

Does anybody know what the average applicant score is at Metro?

Any advice appreciated. Good luck to all of you applying for this upcoming cohort. It sounds like you're well qualified!

Hi Denverhopeful- According to the ranking it states that you can obtain a point from another other license/certification other than CPR so that includes a CNA certification. That would put you at 12 points if you get full points from the HESI and obtain your CNA certification and get the 250 hours. Hope this helps! I do not know the average applicant score but if anyone does that would be great!

Ok, thanks for that. For some reason I was reading that the CNA plus 250 hours is 2 points, but now I see that it would actually total 3pts. So that's great!

Did you guys apply to any other schools in Denver? CU is a long-shot for me because my original undergraduate GPA is really low. It's been 16 years since I graduated with that degree, but unfortunately their program is so competitive I don't think I would have a chance. I might apply to DSN but the price tag is a turn off. Also, one of my current professors warned that their credits might not transfer if you go on for a master's degree.

I also applied for the TNO nursing program @ MSU Denver. Unfortunately I only have 12/15 points due to the 1 point missed for credits at metro and the other 2 points missed because I do not have healthcare experience at this time. I used to work as a dental assistant but I guess they do not count this as healthcare experience. Hopefully we find out here soon! I know midterm grades are due by the 15th so maybe a few weeks after that we will hear something! Please let me know if any of you start hearing back from the program!

Hey there, just to clear some things up - you get 1 point for healthcare employment, 1 point for having over 250 hours as a CNA and 1 point for the CNA license itself (or other applicable license), for a total of 3 points. And if you didn't go to metro, it's actually 2 points off (max points is 13/15 for non metro alum). I think whoever told you that about DSN was referencing a time before they had received their accreditation, but they are accredited now. Don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, but I'd want to know if it were me!

Based on the past forums, and some of the nurses I work with, we could hear as soon as next week... getting close!

Hey guys I got accepted into the ANO program! I am so excited, have you guys heard back?? See you in December at orientation :)
