MSN without clinical??

Hey guys!! I recently graduated with my BSN and have been working on a cardiac telemetry floor for about a year. I am interested in the management/administration side of healthcare, so with a year of experience under my belt I have started looking into graduate programs to earn my MSN with an emphasis in healthcare administration. I have found an accredited program with the right price point that is offered completely online - on paper it seems like the perfect fit. However, they do not require any sort of clinical hours. This seems weird to me and I wanted to know if it was common with this type of degree through an online program or if it is a red flag? When I asked the admission representative on the phone, he told me that they instead require a "capstone" which is essentially just an independently conducted senior project. Any help would be welcome!!!

I don't know anything about clinical hours, but I'd check to be sure that they're accredited and that you'd be eligible to sit for any licensing/certification exam (like a CNL) without clinical hours. I'd investigae the school and BON's websites for accredidation, as well as any licensing/certification and BON websites for minimum requirements to sit for applicable exams.

Non-clinical MSN programs (informatics, education, leadership, etc.) don't have clinical hours, just project hours during your practicum or capstone, whatever the school calls it. This is normal. But definitely check on accreditation as the prior poster mentioned, and ask how many hours are required for your project in the capstone. Some board certification exams will have a minimum, such as the informatics nursing board certification that requires at least 200 hours as part of the degree program.

Why would you expect clinical hours for a non-clinical degree? Don't worry!!! :)

This. Administration is non-clinical so having clinical wouldn't make much sense. If you want to gain some mentored experience, you can look for a program that has a practicum or internship component although I don't know how common this is in administration programs. At the advanced level, however, work experience (especially in a leadership role) is going to get more attention and carry more weigh.
