Hi, at my old agency, MSNs worked as supervisors in the office. I met NPs who worked with a "Doc on call" type of agency while I was doing visits for my agency. They seemed to do once monthly visits.

After getting my MSN I have worked in nursing education, as an instructor, a consultant, & in informatics. In my MSN program, there were nurses from all nursing backgrounds - everything from peds to corrections. The MSN specialty you choose will depend on what you ultimately want to do with it. I knew that I did not want to be an APRN, so that left either the education or the admin track that was offered at my university. I think that either of those tracks would have been flexible and useful to me.
One university near me includes the school nursing credential with their MSN program. That might suit you.
