MSN looking for insurance job

I have a Nurse Executive Master's in Leadership and Management but have found that most management and floor jobs in my area are not family friendly. A few people have told me about working for an insurance company. From what I have heard, it is a 9-5 job, no weekends or holidays, and the pay is amazing. I looked on several websites and it seems that most positions for insurance companies require previous experience. I called the customer service number and they told me to just apply, although I don't even know what type of position to apply for. I would love to get my foot in the door and need assistance. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

You do not give enough information here. How much nursing experience do you have and in what specialties? What is an "amazing" pay rate to you?

It is true that most positions with the kind of "family friendly" hours you are hoping to find require up to five years of experience in acute care.

I have been a nurse for 10 years and have done med-surg, telemetry, critical care step down, education, and management. I am looking to make as close to $100,000 as possible, and am looking for stability in my schedule. I hope this information helps, as I appreciate your response.

You won't be anywhere near 100K with the insurance jobs and hours you are looking for. Average is, I believe, around 65K. It sounds like your experience is good for this and it does have schedule stability. Those are the tradeoffs for the lower pay rates.

If you're interested, just apply. It took my sister several applications over a couple years before she was hired.

Be aware that your Executive Master's degree may be a bit intimidating to them because I believe you'd most likely be hired at an entry level position. Experience DOES count and you sound like that's not an issue. But job titles vary with a varying cadre of educational preparation and previous job skillsets

needed.

My sister works with a wide variety of personnel with very diverse E & E backgrounds, incl those up the admin ranks.

I have a BSN and 2 years experience (1 year at a LTC/Rehab and 1 year on a med/surg floor at a hospital). I would love to work for an insurance company, but do they hire nurses with only 2 years experience?
