MSMC ABSN Summer 2012

Published

Hey everyone,

Is anyone applying to Mount St. Mary's ABSN program for Spring 2012? I was thinking about applying to the ADN program, but I talked with one of the advisors on the Doheny campus and she told me to look into the ABSN program since I already have a bachelor's degree. However, I'm a little concerned with my low GPA that I've received from my undergraduate bachelor's degree. She told me to keep taking classes to raise my GPA, but I have way too many credits from my last degree and I don't think it'll go up any higher no matter how many classes I take. I currently have A's & B's in my prereq's...

Is anyone in the same situation as I am??? Or for any of those that got into the ABSN program have a low cumulative GPA?

I had my interview last Wednesday. I haven't received a letter yet, but I checked WebAdvisor and my status says accepted! This is potentially great news, but I will wait until I get my letter to celebrate!! Also I'm still waiting to hear from UCLA's program. I am torn between the two, but if I don't get into UCLA, then it's an easy choice! Now that I (potentially) got in, I have to find a place to live that's closer to campus! I'm so excited, and congratulations to the both of you too! Maybe I'll be seeing you soon!!

On Web Advisor mine says Accepted also!!! Just waiting on the letter to make it REALLY official!

Got the letter and T-shirt in the mail :) :)

Me too!!! Just got my acceptance letter and t-shirt in the mail!!! I'm so excited!!!

Yup I got my letter and shirt last week and it said deposit needed to be made by the 17th of Feb. Mailed them a check already with delivery confirmation since online status doesn't say whether they accepted your deposit or not. Now I'm just waiting for them to send more information on what needs to be done prior to the start of school in May.

Has anyone received any more information? Or able to access your school email?

OMG you sound like me now, except I don't have the pre-reqs yet. If you are still active in the forum, please do update! I have wayyy too many credits from my BS, and feel like I shouldn't even try to apply for an ABSN program...

Casey89, I haven't heard anything either. I know my school email but I have no idea how to access it. If you get any news, please let us know.

No, I haven't received any new information. I sent my deposit in on Feb. 13 and it cleared on Feb. 15, but I haven't received an email or anything in the mail about orientation. The only thing that changed is on the portal for prospective students, it says "registration pending." And I am able to sign in as a current student, but it doesn't tell me much.

I called OIT and was able to finally access my email, however I emailed Loree and she said to me that they wouldn't be sending emails to that email until the program starts. I wanted to figure it out as soon as possible though so that I can make sure it isn't a problem in the future.

trulyours, if you are interested in the ABSN program I suggest getting all of your pre-reqs out of the way as soon as possible so that you are able to apply for the next cohort! and make sure that you get GREAT grades in Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology and Chemistry, as well as a fairly good overall GPA! good luck :)

Hi trulyours,

Sorry I didn't respond quickly! I applied for the Summer 2012 cohort, but got denied, unfortunately. I called the Admissions office to check with the advisor about what I did wrong or why I got denied. It happened to be that my chemistry class was expired! Other than that, she told me that my application was strong. She also told me to reactivate my application. So, I reactivated my application for the Fall 2012 cohort and now I'm in the process of waiting for the decision.

Casey89 is right, you should take all of your prerequisites before you apply to the program.
