Has anyone applied to Maricopa Skill Center for the May 8, 2008 start date? What kind of NET scores did you get? Or did anyone else you know get? Or what is the average score necessary to be in the Top 40 scores?
Thanks for the input.
I would assume that you would just start in Sept. And from what I've heard this isn't an issue for that start date. Part of the issue is that they are pulling aid from 2 different years, and the clock hour stuff is part of it.
I am only applying for loans since I have a BS already. I am not eligible for grants this time around. If you are getting grants maybe that makes a difference. If were you I would call and double check on the FA thing. Just to be sure.
It woudln't be the first time that 2 people got 2 different answers.
I can't believe that they just told me that I have to come up with over $1700 in 2 weeks in order to start the program. Like I just have that kind of money laying around?I told them that I have fin aid, but they aren't going to award until 1-2 weeks before. So, I am supposed to put up the money, and then they will see if I get it back or not. Can you believe that?
What about you??
Unfortunately, FA is an obstacle at MSC. When I began 7 months ago, I was required to put down $1,200 (which I had to borrow from my dad). I qualified for a Pell grant and I also took out a loan. It took the school 4 months to give me my deposit back. Since then, I have received only $60, I am still owed $1,800. They base it on your clock hours, which are not put in until the end of the month, on top of that, it takes them time to calculate, adjust etc.
Be prepared to not see your money right away if you take out a loan. I'm not telling you this to scare you - I'm telling you so you are prepared! I was told I will get my remaining loan by the time I graduate **sigh**
I wish I would have known before I started that I would not see my loan money right away, I would have planned appropriately. Ive since learned that because it is a skills center, FA/loans are dispersed quite differently than a community college.
Good luck and congrats to getting in. :yelclap:

I am going top be upset if I have $1700 due, I mean what if I can't come up with? Do we get to go into the next program, or to we have to go through the entire wait?
