i am a tele nurse moving to new albany, MS (close to tupelo and oxford). i am thinking about either staying in tele or moving to ER, but i have NO IDEA where to work. any suggestions???
i would appreciate even names of some hospitals that i can look into. thanks.
Yes, I have done clinicals at Baptist in Booneville and in New Albany and we didn't do any computer charting either place and I believe they are mostly still on paper. Booneville is very small.
yes, i took a peek-look-see when i went to NMMC (you know, just to walk around) and i did see computers locked on those little carts. it must be nice to have computerized charting.
one of the smaller hospitals i've been to when i just graduated nursing school actually hand write their MARs. it was quite scary because you can't read half of the meds,

I'm currently in the ADN program at ICC-Fulton.
I have a few friends that work at NMMC-Tupelo, they work 7 days on, 7 days off if I remember correctly. NMMC is the most 'advanced' hospital in the area, it's always growing bigger too.
I like the Baptist hospitals, but like you said, there are few positions available. The Booneville hospital only has about 50 beds in all, I've never been the New Albany Baptist hospital, but I've heard it's nice.
Also, Baptist I believe is mostly all paper charting, where from what I understand NMMC is mostly computer charting.
