oxford, ms has a hospital too, don't know the name right off hand sorry. search the net for these hospitals, you can apply online on both, nmmc.net

welcome to tupelo, where are you moving from?:welcome:

i'm an RN.

my husband was from that area. i am finishing up my contract in texas then we are all moving back for good. (yay).

thanks for your help.

Baptist in oxford (I've heard) is a great place to work. I think that it is part of the Baptist in Tupelo. From what I've heard they have great benefits.

Try the following website http://www.baptistonline.org/careers.

Baptist has hospitals in the following cities;

Booneville, MS

Columbus,MS

Oxford,MS

New Albany,MS

Hope this helps some. Good luck.:welcome:

thanks for the info. is there anyone who actually work in these hosptials?

i hope on finding somewhere and then stay there.

Specializes in Oncology, Med-Surg, Nursery.

Hi!

I am from New Albany, actually. :) I don't know how familiar you are with the area, but NA is a really small town so if you are looking for a lot of excitement, I'd probably go elsewhere. I have a friend who works at Baptist in NA and she likes it and I think they have pretty good benefits.

Tupelo hospital is another branch in itself. They are the North Mississippi Medical Center and separate from Baptist. It's obviously busier - a lot of what New Albany can't handle is sent to Tupelo. A lot of the critical cases, I mean. NMMC also has their own Women's Hospital and a NICU whereas the Baptist hospitals do not. As far as more to offer - I'd say Tupelo. But as for where is better to work - I'm just really not sure although I've heard nothing but great things about the Baptist hospitals.

Good luck!!

thanks. i would like to be close to home but the baptist hosptial seems really small and only limited positions were available, so i thought i'd try tupelo.

do you know anything about NMMC? do they keep their nurses? do people like working there?

I really don't know enough about NMMC to tell you either way. I can tell you that I have a classmate who worked there as a CNA and is planning on going back there after graduation. So, by that I assume something is making her want to work there. :) I don't have anyone I know working there now to ask them, and I am planning on going to Memphis after graduation myself, so I really can't be of much help concerning NMMC. Sorry! :(

memphis? i've been there a few times and there seems to be good hosptials you can work for, pay is competitive too.

congrats on graduating

Specializes in Almost everything except ICU.

I live just right outside of New Albany and have worked for the Baptist hospitals as well as NMMC. I would say that the benefits are better at NMMC, ( I enjoy the end of the year bonus). I am currently with NMMC Home Health prn (went back to school for RN to BSN program), but I am planning on returning to the hospital for an ICU position. If you want to work in a busy ER, definetly it's NMMC. Like the above poster mentioned, NMMC gets what the other hospitals can't handle. Hope this helps.

thank you, it does help, i guess it would be great to be able to stay close to home at Baptist but i checked on their website and it seems like there were only limited positions. i am a tele nurse and would like to stay in something more high acuity.
