Hello, medical field 1973 and welcome to allnurses.com and the Arkansas forum

Good to have you with us.

Medical schools do not educate medication aides/assistants; only those seeking to become medical doctors.

This is from the Arkansas BON:

The Arkansas State Board of Nursing recently granted initial approval to five colleges for the medication assistant training program. These colleges include: Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas in West Helena, Ouachita Technical College in Malvern, Southeast Arkansas College in Pine Bluff, National Park Community College in Hot Springs and East Arkansas Community College in Forest City.

This was released in 2007, so there could be additional programs accepted by the BON.

Good luck with your move to Texarkana. And, we hope you enjoy allnurses.com.

Well, what do you know? I have been a nurse in this state since 1992 and had no idea that we used med aides here. Where have I been?
