Me and my wife plan on going to COT in January. Anyone know what to expect when moving your house belongings from one state to another. Will the goverment pay for everything upfront or reimburse us afterwords.
Also what has everyone heard as far as taking your car to COT. I don't think its a problem having it there, but if we get our first choice in Seattle will they give us time to drive there from Alabama or will they expect at us base within 24hrs.

I think I remember someone posting that you have 7-10 days to get to your base, but don't quote me on that? Alabama to Seattle is a long haul. You will need that week for the drive and to get settled. I can't wait to find out something about Jan. COT. The wait has been forever.

The military will pay for your move. They will move upto a certain weight depending on your rank, above that amount you will have to cover. You need to get with your recruiter to find out the phone number for the shipping agent for your area. As far as time to get to Seattle from COT is based on miles/hours to drive there. It is roughly 8 hours aday. Along the way you will have to pay for your hotel/food but will be remburst once you arrive in Seattle and file a travel claim. Good Luck in COT.

You should drive. You will only be given travel days from Montgomery to Seattle (should you get McChord) and you may not/probably will not have time to fly back home and drive in that length of time from your home to Seattle. You'll park your car in the OTS student lot and it will be fine.
Plus, when you do get to drive, it's so sweet to have your own wheels, even if it's only once or twice...I felt so HUMAN in my car!!
