I just graduated from nursing school in NY, and wanted to know if it is easier if I just take my NCLEX exam in FL rather than taking it here in NY and then transferring it?
I am originally from Orlando, FL. Moved up to NY 3 years ago to be with my fiance and start nursing school. Now we want to move back down, but I am not so sure of the process of transferring the license (if I pass the NCLEX) or what I need to get done to be able to take the exam in FL since we are moving down in May. I plan to take the exam end of March (beginning of April) Thank you, everyone!

You can take the NCLEX exam anywhere in the country. What matters is where you apply for your license. If you want to work in FL and have no intention on using your license in NY, then apply for Licensure by Examination through the Florida Board of Nursing. Once you get your approval/authorization to take the NCLEX exam (ATT) you can register for the test through the Pearson VUE website and schedule your NCLEX exam at any approved testing center in the country. No matter where you physically take the exam, the results will be sent to the Florida BON because that is where you applied for licensure.

Florida education requirements for licensure by exam is not the same as NY. Call the FL BON.
Thank You!:)
I was just about to register with Pearson. Now that I know this I can start my process. Thank you! =)

I'm in Florida and graduated from nursing school in December. While in school, our teachers told us that it is easier to apply to the board in the state you graduate from then have your license transferred to wherever you are moving.
