moving to san diego, looking for a trauma ER job

Hello, I am new to this forum and was wondering if you guys could help me out with some info. I am considering moving to San Diego later this year, and am interested in getting some trauma experience. I currently work in a non trauma ER with 26 beds and 5 hallway beds. What ER's in San Diego are a good place to get my feet wet in trauma? My experience is 8 months as an ED nurse and over a year on a tele/vascular unit.

Sharp, Scripps, and UCSD are the big three in SD.

Sharp is the largest private employer in SD. Obviously UCSD is teaching oriented. I have heard great things about all three. There is also the naval base hospital which have civilian positions open occasionally. I haven't heard the greatest things about Kaiser. When I hear something from one person I generally ignore it but I have heard negative things about Kaiser from numerous nurses. (Sorry Kaiser, but something obviously needs to improve).

San Diego is a great city - right on the coast, something for everyone, distinct charming areas, racially and economically diverse, gay-friendly, very dog-friendly and very casual and off the beaten track. San Diego is a very "happy" place.

I probably should tell you that my experience in UCSD's ER was fantastic as a travel nurse!!! I was a bit let down though because the trauma patients go directly to the ICU for rescutation, and completely bypass the ER.

The only trauma patients that stop in the ER is if "airway needs secured".
