  1. Your two years might be enough to get you hired as a CCT (critical care transport) RN. Some companies want more experience, like 5-7 years of ER or ICU, but some companies are ok with only two years. This also might be dependent on your geographic area. The usual certs are helpful- CCRN or CEN, TNCC, ACLS and PALS. I would just start applying in your area to any company that is hiring. When I started CCT I had three years as an RN, 2 of those in the ER, but that was about 5 years ago.
  2. I will be going on June 6th. No idea on the BAH...
  3. reserves here....
  4. Thanks for the help. I have the CAC reader but was unable to get a CAC. they think I am in the IRR.
  5. well I'm running into a few issues. Somehow HRC thinks I am in the IRR. Something to do with being attached to APMC is messing up the process. HRC says they cant help, my command says talk to the recruiter. I'm drilling with the local unit this weekend. The recruiter says that once I turn in the forms for getting paid for drill with another unit everything will get fixed. No idea on a date for BOLC. I was not able to get a CAC either, just an ID card. There is a nicely framed commission on the wall though! I will keep you all posted. -Migz
  6. I just joined the army reserves with a bsn from an online RN-BSN program. Just make sure that the program is accredited.
  7. Is anyone on this board in APMC? particularly reservists? I'm still working out some details on what I need to do.. -migz
  8. He's not my primary recruiter but he has stepped in to help out.
  9. A little update for me: I commissioned on the 1st of Nov, and was advised to sit tight and wait for orders. A few weeks went by and I called, and they had the orders in the recruiting office. No mention of how long they had them though! I'm going tomorrow with the recruiter to pick up some uniforms. I can go on my own to get an ID card. There is no Army post for hundreds of miles, but there is Balboa Naval Medical Center that has an AAFES store with Army uniforms. I'm not sure what the next step will be after uniforms and ID. My home unit is about 12 hours away but I am attached to APMC; most of my drill should be with a local unit. -Migz
  10. I'm working on a commission as a 1LT in the Reserve; 66HM5 (ER nurse). The board approved my packet, and now I just waiting on a waiver for my prior service re-enlistment code. I should know within a few weeks, so that would probably put me going to BOLC this winter or next spring.
  11. I graduated from Grand Canyon in February. It took me about 14 months to complete the program, but I had many general ed. classes already completed.
  12. what is a 66T?
  13. I just started the process last week, and my recruiter told me that there are no incentives for ER nurses this year. No bonus cash for me!
  14. It will depend on the cct agencies in your geographical area. In my location, for example, several years exp in ER or ICU setting is needed, as well as the usual certs; ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC
  15. I work full time ER and part time as a CCT nurse. It's a fun way to make some extra cash and get some different experience
